beders well pleased with a new PB of 1.42.38, 32 seconds off my previous best. Still the wrong side of 1.40 but moving in the right direction, well happy for an old man !!! Ilkley Harriers AC 1:42:38 1:42:38 1:42:38 62.76
blimeythatsbendy PB'd last year but ran dreadfully - far too fast at the beginning (1st mile 5.30). Aiming for 1.25 or less but very weather dependent at this time of year, especially in the wettest part of England's floodiest city!

After the event - much better this year. I managed 6.15 pace all the way round and even had a bit left for the charge home. Immaculately organised as usual and even the weather was (relatively) kind. Stockport Harriers & AC 1:22:38 1:22:38 1:24:59 1:22:38 70.55

Fantastic run today
kept HR at 177-179 for the first 12... and pushed a bit in the last mile
and found a sprint to hold off a Cruise Missile who WASN'T catching me
Really pleased with that

giggsy Everythying looked good until mile six when the wind coming off the airfield took it out of me. Managed to hang on though even had abit of a sprint left at the end and looking back pace was consistent aroiund the 6:30 mark apart from that 6th mile! Missed out on a PB by 7 or 8 seconds but not disappointed to be honest I'll be back next year! Congratulations to the organisers on a great race and the use of great facilities - first time my wife hasn't minded sitting around for an hour and a half 'cos she was inside with a cup of tea! Haggis Blimey, where did that come from?

Good run, excellent conditions.

Didn't just whip last years time by nearly 8 mins, but also got a new lifetime PB, previously 1:44:43 at Chester in '95, so well pleased.

Hoppo Really tough, very cold wind, set off far to fast. I know i said would do my pb if it kills me, well i didn't and it killed me! At home now can't stop shivering and being sick! At 10 mile was 2 min up on by pb but last 3 miles was a killer, walked alot. Thanks to Santababy ( i think ) who tried to help me home at finish but i told her to go as could see was holding her back. Well done to everyone who got pb today and sorry to thoose that bet on me. justphil My first half-marathon for years. This has always been a fast course and as it was my first race of the year before starting my marathon training. I was pleased to get close to 90 minutes. This race is a good start to your years racing and a chance to finally brush off the Christmas and New Year cobwebs. Was really looking forward to this race, however it all sort of went wrong the day before and I didn't have quite the nice, relaxed build up to the event that I'd had in mind. Splits were: 7.07/7.17/7.26/7.22/7.11/7.36/7.45/7.33/7.39/7.31/7.43/7.51 + 8.23 for the last 1.1.

just 13 mins off my pb by my watch - will update with official time but those who bet on me, thanks and use those credits well! Set off quick and stayed quick til 11 miles when slowed slightly. Rob Wasn't expecting much as I haven't done enough mileage since the GNR. However pleasently suprised as I managed to average roughly 08:30 minute miling all the way (I think). Very flat and fast course, well marshalled and overall well organised. Very lucky with the weather, based on the past week, wasn't brave enough to forego the tracksters and long sleeves though! Sodahead Weather OK, experienced rain, hail, sleet and snow on the way down so delighted that it stayed dry throughout the race.

Spoke to a few running colleagues on the start line and off we went.

Mile 1; 6.00 a sensible start and running with fellow 76 min target runner.
Mile 2; 5.48 still sensible and passing runners that had started to fast
Mile 3; 5.53 mate was breaking the wind and there was a small posse following us
Mile 4; 5.55 still steady away and working our way back to some runners in front
Mile 5; 5.35 possibly short but we catch the target runners
Mile 6; 5.54 an MV50 takes up the lead and we all tuck in running into the wind
Mile 7; 5.59 in the last mile I have gone backwards in our running group. Mate takes up the chase with the MV50 and one of my local running competitors from Billingham tries to pull me along.
Mile 8; 5.53 but I am loosing touch with the group of runners, legs feel very tired already :o(
Mile 9; 6.00 just getting slower and slower
Mile 10; 5.55 still trying but making no impact
Mile 11; 6.07 1st of the humps that you don’t notice on the outward run, I get passed by one runner
Mile 12; 6.05 legs are shot and I get passed by two more runners
Mile 13.1; 6.38 legs spent and shaking my head.

Nice to chat with Hippo just after she finished her run. Bumped into Vrap and Elbee – well run guy’s.

It just was not going to happen today. Too many bits with niggles, body not quite tickettyboo, carrying to much body weight etc etc etc.

Finishing position 20th in a time of 77.44 – disappointing. On the up side I did manage to collect the 1st V45 prize for my efforts and my club mate who I brought down PB’ed by almost 3 minutes so it was a happy drive back to Teesside.

Velociraptor This will be the first time I've run this popular race and I'm hoping it will be a PB course for me :o)
I was very nervous beforehand, having invested a great deal psychologically in breaking through the 100 minute barrier here. The initial pace felt very comfortable and I decided to maintain that level of effort for 8 miles then increase the pace if I had enough in reserve. Ha! I had a slightly strugglesome patch between 8 and 12 miles and am pleased only to have slowed by 10-15s/mile.
Lovely course (as far as I could see, having forgotten to pack contact lenses), beautifully-organised race, perfect weather, and I was race-fit, so this is an accurate assessment of my current half-marathon fitness. I'm happy to sit on this PB until the autumn.
Congratulations to the many, many other Fetchies who got PBs :o) Cumberland AC 1:37:44 1:37:44 1:39:30 1:37:44 69.06
XB Will go out looking for sub 1:50 but expect will be closer to 1:55. Bet at your peril.
Tee hee. My time form line to line was 1:49:46 a PB. Perfect conditions and perfect pacing worked for a negative split. The official time will be around 1:50:09 still a PB so I'm claiming that time. Ribble Valley Runners 1:46:39 1:49:46 1:55:00 1:49:46 56.25
Yorkshire Pie A rough guess at the clock time as I staggered past it, my watch said 1:49:07. I really surprised myself with this run, I felt like I'd been training well and might just about sneak out a PB, but I didn't expect to cut 5 minutes off it or go under 1:50. Not that I'm complaining, obviously! Unaffiliated 1:40:11 1:43:04 1:55:00 1:49:20 58.97
