Steve72 Very competitive race. Not a huge amount of runners but a high percentage of fast runners it seemed to me. The course was 3 laps of the lower park adding up to the 5mile distance. The route seemed a bit contrived to me especially as they could have used the upper park too. One section had us running towards an exit gate on a road width path only to have to turn round 180 degrees around a marshall with cones around him. This had to be negotiated 3 times of course and I found it odd. But apart from that and the fact that it was a hard effort it was good and I was certainly very pleased with my time. Got to the 4 mile marker in 23:59, quickly realised I needed a 6 minute mile to sneak in under the 30 minute barrier and decided I was going to make it as I was tiring. But this seemed to relax me and my running became more fluid and breathing less laboured and I only just sneaked it by a few hundreths of a second according to my watch.
