hammerite A race of uncertainties after my fiasco at St Neots, not training very well throughout November cos of my bad thigh, and then the works christmas party on Friday night (my head hurt on Saturday). So I decided not to go out to bust a gut, but to go steady (8min miles) and see how long I could hold onto it for. Ran with Slow Going until 4.5 miles, then he started stretching out a bit. Then saw KatieB marshalling.

I kept going at 8's on the hills leading into Cranfield, people seemed to be overtaking me on the downhills, but I was overtaking them on the up hills. Once in Cranfield I felt good with 4 miles to go knowing that it's predominantly downhill. So I started to push it to the finish catching SG before the end.

Was good to meet a few fellow Bedford Harriers AC 1:36:06 1:41:40 1:45:00 1:43:40 55.92

Monkey Nuts Unaffiliated 1:32:56 1:46:36 1:49:00 1:46:36 54.45
monki Time is estimate for now - I ran at least a minute quicker by my watch, but it did help not knowing where the start was ;)

Sounds like me and Plodder came in at the same time - were you the Strider sprinting at the end? Most unnecessary I felt.

So my epic week of mara one Sunday and half the next ends. Next time I just have to do it pushing a wheelchair, as Mick did..... Unaffiliated 1:35:18 1:48:01 1:50:08 52.70
Mooey Was on to get my predicted time - but stopped to help a girl having an asthma attack. Unaffiliated 2:27:50 2:32:42 2:35:00 2:39:52 41.43
Runner Martin Redway Runners 1:38:46 1:41:10 1:42:46 61.61
RunningRev Great race, however pulled muscle in the back of my leg, had to hobble (mostly walk) the last 3 miles, open where I collapsed in sheer agony over the finish line with a leg that would not move! I did do it tho, and within the predicted time!!!! So not so bad after all! UKnetrunner 1:38:01 2:22:16 2:30:00 2:22:16 40.75
Slow Going Actual target is to run the whole way after the fiasco of last year, anything else is a bonus.

Well I didn't run the whole way, walking through the final water station and for a few seconds at mile 12 (until hammerite caught me up and told me to get a move on). I was cruising until 10.5 miles when it started to really hurt, and became a battle of wills to keep up any kind of pace at all for the last 3 miles. Half way in 51:55, on a course that should produce a negative split. I am chuffed with a 15 minute PB and a very sociable race (saw MRF, Hammerite, Monki, RichK, Dips, Jeffers, Go Martini, KatieS). UKnetrunner 1:31:13 1:44:49 1:44:59 1:44:49 55.47
