Mandymoo Want this to be a good run. Both my last 10m races have been disasters. If this one is it will be my last!

Great race really enjoyed. :-) Did a personal best of 1.37.02 - so pleased and will deffinately be doing another 10 miler soon. Didn't find the hills too bad, and really enjoyed the last mile or so. Thanks to everyone who bet on me, really inspired me to push for a good time. :-) Whitecliffs Athletics and Running Club 1:37:02 1:37:02 1:40:00 1:37:02 52.29

PSC time based on Garmin. Sorry to the betting folk - Watford half is the one to bet on.... PB on that is going to be shattered (unless something goes horribly wrong)!!

This 10 miler was a great run... well organised etc etc!

Mile Splits/summary report -

Assembled in the sports hall in Canterbury - too hot inside, too damn cold outside. Chose shorts and fetch T shirt to race in (good combo)... new socks and drinks belt (with isotonic drink not energy). Chomped half an energy bar 30 mins before the race.

Mile 1 - 9:37 really odd start, 800 runners funnelling into a narrow path. Felt very slow and hadn't really warmed up at all in the first mile.
Mile 2 - 8:56 - starting to open up now although still on a very narrow track.
Mile 3 - 8:37 - gentle incline and lots of people already slowing down and puffing there way up the hill - ran in mud verge and steamed up the hill
Mile 4 - 8:50 first horrid hill - later half of the mile going up, lots of people suddenly bursting into a full walk - no warning, and then wobbling all over the track. I plodded on Army style, hunch forward, don't look up, breath deep and even and don't stop.
Mile 5 - 9:40 still going up hill for the first portion of the mile split, then flat. Opened up pace and stretched out the calfs - still concious of a tight left achilles although a good rub of deep heat at the beginning and self massage of the calf plus stretch meant it fells good.
Mile 6 - 8:51 phew flat again - lots of ramblers getting in the way and fantastic views over the downs in wonderful warm sunshine
Mile 7 - 8:49 plodding along really easy. Chatting to Bo-bo and checking out the posh houses!!
Mile 8 - 9:19 the final big hill
Mile 9 - 8:42 still flying and wondering whether to go for a flying finish..... yep, weeeeee all the way down the last hill.
Mile 10 - 7:19 (touched sub-7 min miling for about half a mile) felt so good. Flew past a fellow Fetchie (not sure who tho) Sorry!!!Breathing was a tad ragged on this bit, but the end was in site - or so I thought!
oddly there was another 0.05 miles to go to the finish sticking to 7:33 pace!! Felt a very long way!

TOTAL TIME - 1:28:42 not a PB, but this is not a PB course. Felt really strong all the way round and unlike other races can still walk so know that I held loads back in reserve for next week!! Tee hee.
Av Pace 8:51

Fastest pace 6:56 whayhay!!! for a few yards at least I felt like an elite(ish) runner..... :-)
