Elayne A lovely trail run. But quite simply the worst run I have ever had! It is the one and only time I have stopped to walk. Falkirk Victoria Harriers 1:45:05 2:15:42 2:15:42 47.53

_andy Another sunny day at Aviemore which was almost too hot at times. The route is superb, but the undulations, paths and tracks would make a serious PB unlikely compared to a flatter, road HM.

Ok, there was a problem with the buses at the start, but this can be easily solved next year: more buses plus have them leaving a bit earlier would solve this. The chip timing was mis-leading since the end of the race ONLY was chipped, which meant that some runners lost a couple of minutes just getting up to the start line; again this could be solved with a proper timing chip (e.g. Sportsystems disposable chips as used at the Stirling 10k the previous month). I actually managed to use one of the two showers after the race, but these facilities were woefully inadequate - what a shame that the race organisers were unable to get use of the adjacent facilities in the Macdonald hotel swimming pool.

From a personal point of view, I ran on tired legs and went off too fast. Mile 6 was a killer [and was it closer to 1.1 miles based on my mile split?] The second half of the race was mere survival for me and I was three minutes down on the time I'd hoped for. Still, I've put it in my diary for next year - 19th of October 2008. Kinross Road Runners 1:20:41 1:31:26 1:33:10 62.79

Ultracat Lovely day for a run in the beautiful forest of Glenmore, alot of off-road and loads of uphill bits made this a bit tougher than I thought it would be. Late starting due to a mix up with the buses going the wrong way ferrying runners to the start. Last half mile was very challenging on a narrow rough path with large stones and uphill!!! Off-road lovely to run for training but not for fast times for a road runner like me. Metro Aberdeen 1:58:00 1:58:51 2:02:00 61.26
Loon Dod Great route a nice mix of terrain race orginisers need to sort out transport and late start issues to keep runners happy. Stonehaven Running Club 1:35:58 1:35:58 1:35:58 67.71
Boab Bit of a disaster. What is a beautiful scenic race was ruined by bad organisation.

Sitting in 4 place and catching third, just after 5 miles we both ended up standing on a beach at Loch Morlich having gone the wrong way due to lack of marshalling and signage. Lost about 10 places and probably about 80 seconds. Head wasn't in it after that and concentrated on marathon pace to the end. Felt comfortable and could have kept that pace going, so looking good for the mara, the only plus point to come out of the race. Unaffiliated 1:11:57 1:17:25 1:21:22 71.65

Plussing As Which Had an absolute nightmare from start to finish. Even before the start things were not looking great as had to stand around waiting for bus to start and then there was the delay to the start and the fiasco with the results. Anyway, I think my body had decided that a hard marathon and 3 halfs in 7 weeks or so was just too much. Disappointed to finish the season slower than I started and feeling rather cheesed off with the whole thing. Unaffiliated 1:28:05 1:28:05 1:26:00 1:31:04 71.49
Enigma Happy to reportthat it was a PB - so all those betters out there won't be lynching me.
Once the race got underway I felt pretty good. I'm happy with the time, but know that I can go faster. I just can't seem to get to the 7min miles (or under) that I want to do. I think I need to find another gear as this is the 4th half in 1.33.xx. The course was the same as last year, which was good as the sometimes dodgy marshalling didn't affect me. It was my frirst race running with the Garmin and the stats make for interesting reading, very consistent splits and a very consistent heart rate. The route is good the organisation needs some work in places, but overall I enjoyed it and will be back next year. Unaffiliated 1:33:06 1:33:06 1:31:00 1:33:06 62.62
Baza Would be happy for around 1:35 as I'll be running at the East District XC relays the day before. Then jumping on the train up to Aviemore at night. *Update*...blimey which bag did this race performance pop out off!! Felt great today but still never expected this time. 1st mile went by in 6:10 so eased off after that, went through 5 in 32:40 and 10 in 66mins, averaged 6:34 over the 13.1. Nice route, but wasn't to keen on the terrain in the first 8 miles though! I reckon I could be in the top 50 so a good weekends racing has been had. Couple of dodgy junctions that could have been better controlled in the wooded areas, 3 of us nearly took a wrong turn but I'll send the organisers seperate feedback. Away to celebrate now. Well done everybody who ran today. Carnegie Harriers 1:23:13 1:26:03 1:35:00 1:26:03 67.37

boulders Big lurgy so no training for over a week. Had a really bad race at Dyke 10k and not a lot of confidence. Hoping to enjoy the run more than any attempt to race.UPDATE: A real disaster for me. The lurgy took its toll. Anything over 7 min mile pacing resulted in coughing fits. Managed 4 sub 7 miles then had to sit back and cruise at 9-10 min pace. This was harder than running fast. I look forward to next year. Its a great day out and not a typical half marathon. Well done the Fetchies! Team M 1:40:14 1:43:47 1:46:00 1:54:00 53.72

SueW Hopefully faster tahn last year. I'll push for a PB. See how teh East Neuk goes. :
Update - sorry to all betters! Only 12 secs outside my PB. I pushed hard but couldn't quite shave those secs off. It's 6 minutes faster tahn last year and 4 minutes faster tahn my fastest half of this year.
Lovely race - fairly well organised - with a few minor hiccups with teh buses at teh start leading to a 30 minute delay in teh race start. Odd set up with the chip timing. Chips were there to eliminate the need for time keepers at teh end with everyone given teh same start time no matter how long it took to get over teh line. (36 secs for me). Still it improved over last year so maybe they'll do proper chip timing for next year. Some of teh leaders had problems with marshalling at the junctions. the 2nd water station only had 2 harassed people trying to sort out water. They should have roped in some of teh supporters standing around to help. I had to stop, go back and pour myself some water as I really needed it at taht satge! Nessie Oh poo. Sorry everyone! Last week's marathon was definitely still in my legs, and it is becoming more apparent this morning that Mr N's tummy bug lurgy was the cause of the stomach cramps at 10 miles. Still, it's keeping my legs moving this morning..........

Going for a PB this year - if I can avoid the lurgy that EVERYONE I know seems to have.

Later update - turns out I was pregnant. THAT'S what did for me. Unaffiliated 2:17:11 2:22:00 2:10:00 2:31:00 43.86
