ChristianPoulton I'm very pleased with my result (02:49:42), although not a PB, considering the course (Athens being one of, if not the most difficult of the big city marathons), my time and the fact that I felt pretty strong throughout the race, even more so than my PB race in Berlin, means that I am progressing and that all my training is finally paying off.

It's a difficult balancing act trying to run the maximum number of miles, along with keeping the quality intact and getting the right amount of recovery. I don't think that I have achieved this as yet - I need to run more miles, more focused sessions with harder runs and get more 'quality' recovery, especially sleep which is nowhere near enough...

I've had a fantastic time in Athens, with my family, post race high, eating and drinking far too much. Now I need to refocus and rebuild my fitness up again with hopefully a good winter season running cross country before I again begin my marathon training in preparation for running the London Marathon. I am hoping that I can build on my recent success in Athens and achieve that elusive sub 2:45 PB. Cambridge Harriers 2:45:38 2:49:42 2:45:00 2:49:42 78.23
