themookid Thankfully not as muddy as I was expecting after the amount of rain in the past 48 hours (I certainly wasnt expecting the warm sunshine). A bit slippery here and there but otherwise great conditions. I wasnt expecting a lot after last nights halloween party and didnt feel to good still during my warm up. Once we were off all was forgotten though. It was either a very quick start from me or a slow one from everyone else as I was clearly up in the top 20 in the early stages. Pushed up the first hill well taking a few guys as usual and for once had a strong downhill too and didnt loose any places. Once we were out on the field edges I came off the gas a little and settled into a quick but controlled pace. Paul settled in behind me and my goal from then on was to keep him there. A few started passing as we got back to the main park and Paul tried pulling away at this point. I managed a strong hill again the second time around and made a huge effort to keep the downhill pace going right around the last field. Passing Paul and two guys I had been following for ages managed to keep it on to the line. 36th!! My best cross country and probably my best race :) 31:04 is under my 5 mile pb, so I can only assume the course was far short. Especially pleased that I didnt die off in the last mile as is my usual style and actually found a long sprint finish. Unaffiliated 31:20 31:20 31:04 67.85
Tom Tom PB position of 7th today, so pleased with that, but didn't really feel on the ball today:( Opening mile run way too quickly, as usual (6.27 ffs!!), so I was blowing out of my arse for the rest of the race. Lucky really that a lot of the faster women weren't there today! Unaffiliated 31:33 33:06 33:15 72.52
