Twelve in Twelve Run Series

This is the entry for the Twelve in Twelve (TwiT) race series.

In the Spring of 2024 Phoenix Running & Global Marathon Challenges are returning yet again with our very popular Ten in Ten (TiT) and Twelve in Twelve (TweT) run series - to be held from Saturday 23rd March 2024 through to Easter Monday 1st April 2024 (TiT finish) and Wednesday 3rd April 2024 (TweT finish) and in 2024 we're aiming to make it the biggest and best 10in10 and 12in12 ever!

As the name(s) suggests this is a series of 10 or 12 consecutive running events held over 10 or 12 consecutive days where you choose - from 5km to 10k, half to marathon to ultra, you can complete as many, or as few, laps as you like each day. The laps will be based around our standard 5.3km, 3.28 mile, out and back, series of routes along the beautiful River Thames and are held on UKA/IAAF measured and certified routes. The runs are 5, 6 or 7 hour timed events, dependant on distance entered and we welcome absolutely all abilities of runner - complete one lap on any day and you're both a finisher for that day and a winner in our eyes, or keep going and see how far you can go in the full time limit. Then come back and do it all over again and again and again.

The Phoenix Ten in Ten & Twelve in Twelve 2024 series will be based from our Thames Path location in Walton on Thames (postcode KT12 2JB) where the Weir Pub (right on the start finish line) lays on a special daily 'runners breakfast' and there are plenty of accommodation options nearby. We use two routes from this location for the TiT & TweT and we plan to alternate the route day-to-day to mix things up a bit. Our aid station or 'tuck shop' is famous for all its sweet and savoury goodies and CAKE and it will be back in full force in 2024 so you won't go hungry!

There are other 10in10's and multi-day series, so what makes the Phoenix TIT & TweT so special?

Well, as we hope you've come to expect from us, we're going to be doing something rather special and unique to us on the 'bling' front. Yet again we've gone all out on the bling and are inviting you to 'Run Scrolls around the Rest' by earning a set of Phoenix Scroll / bracelet medals.

For those looking to complete all 10 days or 12 days we've got a beautiful set of Phoenix 'Scrolls' for you. These are, of course, our usual BIG and bold bling (goes without saying really that we wouldn't compromise on the bling) but this time they're 3D, 12mm thick double sided medals, and the ribbons have Velcro joins so they can be easily removed. Each day you get a different coloured Phoenix Scroll representing a different part of your 10in10 or 12in12 and taking you on a personal running journey.

  • Day 1 - The Fortitude Scroll
  • Day 2 - The Gauntlet Scroll
  • Day 3 - The Dauntless Scroll
  • Day 4 - The Resolute Scroll
  • Day 5 - The Perseverance Scroll
  • Day 6 - The Adversity Scroll
  • Day 7 - The Intrepid Scroll
  • Day 8 - The Indomitable Scroll
  • Day 9 - The Unbreakable Scroll
  • Day 10 - The Invincible Scroll
  • Day 11 - The Silver Scroll
  • Day 12 - The Golden Scroll

What do the Phoenix 'Scrolls' look like?
Here are two examples - the first is the 'Fortitude' Scroll for day 1 and the second is the 'Adversity' Scroll for Day 6. Each Scroll is a different colour.

The Fortitude Scroll

The Unbreakable Scroll

And what do all the Scrolls look like on their ribbons?

What else do I get?
Oh and did we mention that all TiT & TweT finishers in the Half-Marathon, Marathon and Ultra Marathon Categories get a FREE Global Marathon Challenges 10in10 or 12in12 Technical Finishers T-Shirt - because you've earned it! (Please note the 12in12 t-shirts will be ordered after the event and take around 6-8 weeks)
Or, if you finish all 10 or 12 days in a another distance, such as 5km or 10km, or indeed a mixture of distances then you get a FREE Global Marathon Challengers 'black' Technical Finishers T-Shirt - because you've also earned it!

What are the distance options and associated time limits for each?
As part of the sign up process to enter our Ten in Ten or Twelve in Twelve you will be asked to select from the following four options for your chosen distance;

  • Half Marathon - 5 hour time limit (hard cut off)
  • Marathon - 7 hour time limit (hard cut off)
  • Ultra Marathon - 7 hour time limit (hard cut off)
  • Timed event (mixed distances) - You must be on your last lap at 5:59 time limit

This is so we know what distance you are intending to complete so we can look after you accordingly and also what tech-shirt we should expect to give you.

Please note: You can change distances if you change your mind, even on the day itself. Just let us know so we can monitor you against the right cut off.

If you are unsure, just select 'Timed event (mixed distance)' and feel free to change if you want.

But what if I want to do some days but not all the days?
That is absolutely fine - any day can be entered as a single / separate event and you can do whichever days you want.

Will there be route maps?
Yes, here are our two main route maps.

Westbound Route

Eastbound Route

You mentioned the routes are flat, but Ive heard there might be a bridge on some days, can I see an elevation map?
Yes, heres one :

OK, OK, there might be a little bridge on some days!

What do the Scrolls mean?
The short answer is that they mean you are awesome and the long answer is as follows;

Day 1 - The Fortitude Scroll

Day 2 - The Gauntlet Scroll

Day 3 - The Dauntless Scroll

Day 4 - The Resolute Scroll

Day 5 - The Perseverance Scroll

Day 6 - The Adversity Scroll
