    ITG 🇮🇸: no, it's not a p. It's a "Þ" called "Þod" and pronounced Thod

swittle: Did this letter used to be called 'thorn'?

ITG 🇮🇸: Yes. It probably still is but I spelt it wrong :/ "n"s are tricky in Icelandic. It definitely sounds like "thod"

swittle: I met several runes while researching medieval English docs. Thorn, eth and yogh come to mind.

ITG 🇮🇸: yogh? That's a new one to me.

swittle: Rather like a number 3 but half of it below the line. Originally a 'y' sound but was later confused with the letter 'z', which was written similarly. The name 'Menzies' is an example.

ITG 🇮🇸: Menzies as in Mingis ☺

    swittle: Yes :)
