I wonder if I can use the power of pester to get it operated on before the end of the year.

My book club doesn't discuss the book much either. There'll generally be at least one who hasn't read it so we try not to do spoilers, or if we have all read it the discussion will generally go "quite liked it/loved it/hated it"
