HP I think you should consider leaving if she puts up the rent... unless all you have mentioned is put right... and by the sounds of it, it won't be cheap. But she wont find tenants that will put up with it. Has the 'friend' gone? Or is that still on going? |

I think I'm going to have to go. I won't be able to find a friend to share with and I don't want to be in that close proximity to a stranger while in the bedroom. I have v limited options; looking at minimum rent of £700 for a 1-bed flat before bills! I earn about £1,100 a month - just waiting for my first pay packet in new job to see exactly what I'll get. Feel in a bind. I think you're all right. New tenants will want some degree of comfort - the house is bare and bleak at the moment. A pal popped round today and he asked about the loft insulation. Landlady had previously told me she's never looked up there! A new couple of tenants might initially move in, but then find all these things wrong and demand that they're put right. I know I would.

RS bummer! But I think you are right, start looking for something else... Maybe find a house share? Cheaper than having a whole house to yourself and with the right person, could be really good? ION I seem to have pulled  I am on a FB page called ''Love Her Wild'' for women who like outdoorsy adventurous stuff. One woman asked where we find men (or not, as the case might be) and quite a few said: Love, Summit, Sea... where they found their other halves and if not, you ate least make some like minded friends. My interest was peeked, I took a look, clicked join, was added and had a look around. I decided to post a small photo album. This is how it works: you post a few photos, some post a lot, with a little bit of blurb, and start contributing to the page. There are also activities you can join in with walks etc, organised by the membership. Very chilled! So... I barely put my album up or... not just one, or two, no FOUR men are interested/interesting! 3 are close by: Aber, Brecon, Built, and one in Oxfordshire! So within the time span of one week I have actually been out for a bike ride in the Elan Valley with the first one that messaged me, hours from me joining. 2.5 hour ride, really good time, followed by lunch. We met at 10.30, said goodbye at 3 pm and not a moment of awkwardness Dare I say it, do ''normal'' men exist? Fingers crossed! He immediately said he had had a great time, would I like to do that again? I said yes. I then messaged him in the evening with my email and phone number. I just had a really lovely e-mail from him, suggesting another ride at the weekend and giving another few options of meeting that doesn't involve a bike ride, including a classical concert he is going to locally with his children for his birthday 7 March! Everything put very naturally, without any pressure, just practical: he is playing in Hay on a certain date and another couple of things, just so I know his plans for the next few weeks and he leaves it open to me if I want to/am able to join him!!! I mean: he is active in the outdoors, loves nature, reads interesting books, loves music, especially classical and world, like me, plays music, likes to travel, works just enough to get by, like me, and more of he wants to go on a trip or buy a kayak (which he did last September). Bit of an aged hippy... Too many things in common, it is scary! |

Wow Hann that sounds ace! Looking forward to hearing more about him. Are you near the Elan Valley? I’m coming to Llandrindod Wells in June with my parents for a few days, and thinking of bringing my bike (though I’m a roadie, no mtb) |

Near enough Meg, we should meet up. I know the area quite well, we can go for a lovely road ride. Single track lanes with grass in the middle, hills and amazing scenery.

Maz, no, not at all handsome! But he does have lovely eyes and he uses them to look at you when he talks to you, unlike a lot of men... He is an aged hippy and looks like a wild mountain man... Mind, I don't have a type and we will see where things go. I have emailed back and am looking forward to seeing him again on Saturday.
