I don't really do much with my training.

I shall find out about the Fetch app, though. Not that I have an iphone at the moment.

If I was as concerned about privacy etc, persionally I'd find a functioning but cheap second hand Android phone on ebay for about £10, and then buy a standard garmin watch and allow the bluetooth functionality etc but have no SIM card in the phone so that it can't make calls, and put only your garmin login details into the phone.

Whilst there's little to criticise in terms of being cautious about allowing your watch permission to do various things, the reality is that there is no evidence to date of any Garmin watch causing issues, and all you are doing is making a simple piece of tech less usable. But of course, that's for you to judge.

That is a fair point, and with the explanations that oi you found and posted on the last page, maybe I'm mistaken to worry about those things.

I do often wonder if I'm too naive at accepting all these "permissions" etc, so I can understand the concern. It doesn't help that Android mis-names quite a few of the permissions, or at least names them in a way which doesn't lead you to natively understand what they are doing.

Having said that, I'd be much, much more cautious about a far east brand that I hadn't built up some trust with over a period of time and that wasn't immediately name-recognized. I've been using Garmin products for over 20 years, so if they need permission to make calls from my mobile or access my camera, they can have it.

There’s an Eddie Izzard sketch about iTunes T’s & C’s somewhere. . .

Got something to say?
