Yes, and still regular speculations going on about it all the way to the 1980s.

As Bobby Kennedy used to say, "I'll drive off that bridge when I come to it".

Feel free to tell me what a horrible person I am, but I'm finding it difficult to sympathise completely with the residents of a certain Yorkshire village. If the reports I read are true, then they were reassured by officials that there was no risk of flooding shortly before they ended up under three feet of water:

However, the name of their village might have offered a hint: Fishlake.

[it is just about the easiest way to get sacked as police staff - and the temptation is always there - 'wonder who owns that car that keeps parking across my drive?', or 'my daughter's boyfriend looks like a wrong 'un - I wonder if he's got previous' - we lose a handful of otherwise perfectly decent people every year because they scratch that itch]

"...insiders at UKA have admitted to being “embarrassed” by a failure to pay tax on the value in kind on the mountain of kit it receives as part of its sponsorship arrangement with Nike.

The Nike deal — signed in 2017 and in place until 2030 — is worth about £2.5 million a year plus kit to the governing body. But an apparent failure to recognise that the kit has an ascribed value has led to a huge bill from HM Revenue & Customs."

( On FB a runner I know was indulging in a bit of Nike-hatery with some "so how will Paula and Steve explain away (unrelated) this, eh?" and I did rather skip past. I suppose though, that an ongoing sponsorship deal of £2.5 million plus a year might blunt the edges of any criticism somewhat.

The "this" btw was the tale of a broken prodigy nytimes.com )

Anyone catch the Tsitsipas interview last night? He was asked how it felt to be playing his first tournament at the O2. “It’s amazing to play here where so many of the all-time greats have played before - Taylor Swift, Ed Sheehan...”

Hummus recipe:

Proper hummus is served with a drizzle of olive oil, rather than oil being a significant ingredient in its own right. This is what should go in it:

• 1½ cups cooked chickpeas or 1 (15-ounce) canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed*
• 3 tablespoons tahini
• 3 tablespoons lemon juice
• 1 garlic clove, mashed
• ¼ teaspoon salt, or more to taste
• Approximately 2-4 tablespoons room-temperature water or aquafaba, or more if needed
• Optional garnishes: extra virgin olive oil, sumac or paprika, finely chopped parsley or other herbs, whole chickpeas

This particular recipe from thymeandtoast.com but it’s typical of the Middle Eastern way of making it.
