Just being able to get out the door for a simple training run and I have to consider a multitude of different things and if something has gone screwy during the day to send my blood numbers in the wrong direction then that could scupper the plans of doing a run, either because I have to take insulin to correct things (which then means running is cancelled) or just because I feel like crap and know that running at that point will just make me feel even more like crap. Depending on when I last changed my pump, if the insulin has decided to be more/ less active today than the day before, if I eat an extra something and forgot to take a dose for it, or over estimated what was on the plate infront of me and took too much insulin, or something else in the day causes some extra stress or it's a day of the week with a "y" in it then things can get messed up. It's an unrelenting balancing act that is impossible to get right. The best you can hope for is slightly better than yesterday.

Running a marathon is by far the easy bit.

Very interesting Spideog. Back in the day I was a diabetes "expert" and had a marathon running patient. I new a lot about diabetes but much less about running. I now know more about running but insulin pumps and monitoring has changed diabetes management and I hope that is making it much easier for you ( though I respect that it will still be far from easy).

It's going to be perfect conditions. Don't worry about the weather. Concentrate on what you can control.
