Three months to go until Fetchies gather on the south coast. Are you ready for it?

Not much happening from the organisational aspect apart from the weekly e-mails. Must confess to secretly hoping that the planned pre-race BM Ride does not get the go ahead.

...and yes, I am really looking forward to one of my favourite marathons!

Looks like the bike ride is going ahead - why do hope it won't? Because you have to decide between riding and running?

We couldn't work out how it could fit in timing wise, but there's a cut off speed, rough calculation is that the back of the bike ride will pass the pier heading west about half an hour before the front of the 10k gets there.

The front of marathon does get very close to the back of the 10k though! It's been like that every year.

Hi JJJ. Having been in Brighton after the London-Brighton ride and also on marathon day, the place gets extremely congested. As a runner, you only notice this after the race when you become a pedestrian. Now put both events together and you get an idea of how congested it could be on 14 April. Hopefully, the cyclists will have left the area by then. I suppose it is helpful that they are starting and finishing from Hove Lawns and not close to where the BM10k ands marathon are starting and finishing.

I can't say I've been that close to the front of the marathon to notice the slower 10k runners but I've always thought there maybe an overlap of some sort.

Phil - Just in case anyone thinks I run a 2 hour marathon, I only catch the back of the 10k because I'm driving a marathon vehicle!

The front of the marathon doesn't catch the 10k but the cavalcade that's 10 mins ahead of the runners catches the last dozen or so 10k-ers just before the pier when 10k turns right and marathon left.

As you say, hopefully the cyclists will have dispersed reasonably early on - cut off time for the ride is about 2:45 so they'll have finished by 9.45.

I do know how congested everywhere is afterwards as I'm walking / running / driving kit round the course all afternoon and it's hard work by all methods! Being by the sea makes it worse - in London people disperse over 360 degrees, Btn only has 180.

First, many thanks for all you do at the marathon, JJJ. It is so much appreciated be everyone. Are you in the vehicle with the clock?

Just found out that a couple of work colleagues are doing the BM Ride. One of them didn't know it starts and finishes around Hove Lawns or was unaware of the hilly parts of the course.

For me, I am not expecting a particularly impressive run due to injuries once again. However, it will be my tenth Brighton Marathon so I would like to give it my best shot nevertheless.

I've had the vehicle ahead of the cavalcade for a few years, so get my ears pounded by scooters beeping their *$&^% horns for 2 hours!

Don't know the plan yet for this year, meeting coming up in a few weeks to discuss, some years I've just been driving vans delivering kit, and if VIPs need taking to the airport we do that so get to chat to Brendan Foster or whoever it is.

Although I have a long weekend it's good fun so not really giving time to do it - I like driving and get let loose in all sorts of cars and vans and the 7.5 tonner. It's enjoyable being part of it and I don't have to run 26.2 miles which is a plus! but do have some early mornings (about 0430 on race day!)

With eight weeks to go, it's all gone a bit quiet (and I don't just mean on this thread)! I think it's around now, we find out from Grounded Events any route changes, who the guest starter is, etc. JJJ, do you get to know anything before we get our notification e-mails?

Probably not!

I haven't heard anything so far - have a meeting in a couple of weeks when we might hear something.
