Dvorak, I'm not quite sure where you wandered to, but it definitely didn't "magically clear" yesterday at Loch Katrine. We had horizontal rain for about 60% of the day, and gale force winds for 100% of it. We took it in turns to face into the wind on the finish line, as it was physically too painful to face into it for any period of time. I have no idea how people ran in it, I was struggling to stay vertical. Type three fun....

For eating in Alloa, try here

tripadvisor.co.uk

I've eaten there a couple of times and it's been good, not great i'd say 3.5/5 stars

Ah, the contrast between 0945 and 1003 was particularly marked, Duchess :-). I wandered up past 6 km later and whilst always windy by the water, where the route was inland some parts were weirdly calm. And visibility was clear up the loch.

And then I got soaked bolt. And quarter an hour later the sun was oot again.

Don't know what Dvorak and Duchess are talking about, it's always glorious weather at Loch Katrine ;-) Ok maybe not.
Dvorak with it being out and back and the support from other runners hanging around after, some walking back course and the little bit of walkers, cyclists and folks that stay there I think for pretty much everyone even at the very back even the marathon works pretty well and there is always the entertainment of the weather and the glorious surroundings.
Start your triple crown next year ;-)

Marathon route goes up the left of shot, round the curve of the loch and out of sight, part way down the right, then turn and return. HM not as far as the top, and 10K just a bit further than where I'm stood (which is along a pier so a wee bit aff-route).

Dv - nice photo, but have you not got your left and right mixed up ? Races go up the right shore as you look at that photo, with Stronachlachar out of sight round to the left

We went to D'Nisi café in Alloa (Fetch meet up a few years ago) and it was nice. Not a "restaurant" but nice food and staff. Enjoy!

Loch Katrine looks lovely but tough route and weather at this time of year (and this year) hard. Well done all. :-) G
