I was looking at Spring halfs for next year and having done Inverness before was checking their website - £34.50 seemed a lot ( no buses required ! ).

Alloa at £27 and Balloch at £25 were the other two I checked and it confirmed my suspicions

Loch Ness is expensive but the organization is excellent, and the medal and t shirt are very good quality

I take it you’ve run it then Metro_Nome?

I’ve had a look at a couple of videos on YouTube & the scenery looks lovely.

It's a Very Good Marathon. :)

I may be showing a little bias here.....

I ran Stirling in 2007, which was similarly priced. I balked at first, thinking it was very expensive when the going rate was c. £45. Then I looked at the cost of fuel to get there, accommodation for me and the family, meals, etc., and realised that £10 wasn't really worth worrying about.

They do lay on a pretty good event - they had Vassos Alexander doing a talk at the pre-race pasta party this year, live music, a couple of fairground type rides and stalls to keep the kids occupied, post race grub, and a fab medal.

I have more of an issue with the cost of the half (as you say, no buses), but that's probably because when I first ran it in 2000, it was £9.......

57.5 Degrees of Pain
I've now lived in the Inverness area for over a decade without seriously considering it. Not sure why.

Will probably run the overpriced half though. Weather is always poor but if you are quick enough to beat the crowd the post race showers are good for thawing out.

Going back a couple of pages to Dvorak wondering what was happening with the G2E race, I've now remembered where I read about it - it was stated on the facebook page "Scottish marathons and Scottish ultras" that GB Ultras were taking it over, and were thinking of doing one in October 2020, then it would move to a spring event from 2021 onwards

Omg Nessie that route is just too flat & straight! I did the railway relay this year and it messed with my mind. At least with the D99 we had Scolty and the two Ballater hills. Do you fancy it?
