They say that chest belts are more accurate for heart rate readings than the optical on the wrist. Mine is the optical, Garmin Forerunner 235, but is now showing what I believe is more accurate than previously. I ran 8.1 miles on road this morning, pushing the pace, and battling a strong wind. My average heart rate was 124 and max 141.

FF, it's always good to find different routes, on and off roads, to revive flagging interest in running.

Well done Peter.

hillstrider is spot on FF! Do some looking about and get some varying routes again! I have sixty routes believe it or not, they've all been measured over a period of a few decades (I've lived in the same city all my life!). My routes all start at the front door and because of geography the first mile has to be the same but then I have a choice! Despite the large number I tend to favour a half dozen routes for various reasons. And of course I do them in reverse to revive that flagging interest if it surfaces.
Phew hillstrider--pushing the pace between 124 and 141 bpm---my "pushing pace" would have me in the 148-155 range.

Lovely, chatty parkrun with a friend today. He is running VMLM tomorrow and I am running tonight. I suspect we were that annoying pair who run past you when you are trying your hardest without even appearing to be out of breath!

I do love running chats!

10 miles this morning, bringing total for the week to 29. No trouble from calf :-)

Steve45, it seems a lot to be starting back with, but I've had this before. I get a misalignment problem that manifests itself in a calf issue. Once my physio has corrected this I can train & run again very quickly.

My downfall is that I don't do any preventative type of exercise & this happens (usually every 2 years). I know I should look at yoga / pilates, but never seem to get around to it !

After todays runs I'm slowly creeping up the ladder, just 46 miles behind a red heart.

Thanks Mmm, hillstrider and Steve. I do know this but it just feels like I have so far to run before I get to any back roads to start 'running'. Also there are so many busy main roads to cross to get anywhere. I will persevere.

Dave, sounds promising regarding your calf. Hope you are able to maintain your progress.

FF, keep it up and you will soon be near the top of the ladder, where you belong.

Ran 8 miles on road this morning with a running friend in very windy conditions.

looking forward to watching the London Marathon tomorrow!

Suffering my annual attack of what V'rap so accurately called The Envy.

I know it's only another marathon, but I still want to do it again!

In the meantime, good luck to anyone doing it!

Apparently the ballot has opened already if anyone fancies their chances. Good luck.

Just 9 miles today on a new route, I can add a few loops to make it longer if I want but I have to cross a main road twice. This is an early Sunday run.

Just shy of 40 miles to a red heart now.

We've got a little train of Gromit, Peter and Mark with hillstrider Mrsb and roberton a couple of carriages in front of them :-)
