Sounds like a great day had Scribbler! Well done ER too.

Well we have had a flasher hanging around the woods / road where I go running, apparently he's been around for some time but I only found out about it a couple of weeks ago. To be honest it wouldn't stop me going out although the idea of someone seeing me before I see them in such a creepy way isn't great. Well yesterday it moved on... (providing its the same person) but the guy let a lady out in front of them heading towards the fells then followed her into the car park. This was around 9am yesterday morning - broad daylight. He then asked the lady for directions and lets say he wasn't interested in directions and was fully exposed when she got to the car. The lady walked off but he got out of the car and followed her. She called the police and 2 other women stayed with her while he hid in a bush. So now we have a situation whereby flashing isn't all he's interested in. The police are on it but it leaves me thinking I don't feel safe going out on my own. Even staying away from the fells which makes me so angry it is somewhere I love going and I hate that one individual is making life more worrying for me and other women. Just hope the police have him off the streets soon.

Typical it is now winter months and the mornings and nights are dark so I am going to have to reunite my idea of lopping around housing estates instead - joy. But safety first.

Oh GG that's a real shame! As you say, hopefully he'll be apprehend before long. One way to look at it though, looping around housing estates gives you new squares on Conquercise!

GG, I do sympathise with you for the upsetting situation you face in running. I know that sometimes you run with your mum, but is there perhaps someone else who could join you in your runs on the fells and in woodland. I'm sure you must feel angry that someone should ruin what you enjoy and that gives you such benefits physically, mentally & emotionally. I'm sorry I can't offer to accompany you, as the distance of 300miles+ might prove to be a problem.

Thank you all those who expressed sympathy and support following the death of my mum recently. During her last 5 weeks she was in pain and discomfort, so in the end it was more relief than grief - and she was just a few months short of 100 after all.

Offender has been caught and is in custody! I’ll err more on caution in future though and make sure I stay vigilant instead of losing myself in the surroundings.

I do have a friend who runs and is just starting back it’s the trying to coordinate with others that stresses me out.

Good news GG, we shouldn't feel intimidated when we're out running.

Decent 3 miler last night, definitely feeling easier but I'm not going to rush into it and try to up the mileage too quickly, that way lies madness (and injury!). As I said before, I'm going to try for 100 miles by the end of the year so seven and a bit miles per week will see me there, I think that is a sensible target seeing as it's a good couple of years since I've done any consistent running. Providing that all goes ok I can then start thinking about adding to my A-Z of Half Marathon list! (Although to be honest I've already earmarked a couple of races at the end of March 2020, that's far enough away to be ready isn't it?!).

The Scribbler
Good news GG. Something similar happened near me I think - though I never could work out what was local gossip and what was fact. Always good to be vigilant, but not good to be scared of doing anything you want to do.

I'm back on the on again, off again with the run mileage and general training. I put my kit out ready for a run this morning, but when I sat up out of bed, the room span and I felt dizzy, so I went back to sleep. Happened again at wake up time for work, so I ended up coming in a bit later than usual.

I feel fine now, so I think it may have been a migraine (though they have never had that effect before), or a big drop in blood pressure first thing. Hope it's a one off!

Good to see you back motivated scribbler that’s the biggest part and sorry to hear about your head issue this morning hopefully it will have been a short one of those things.

The guy has been charged but is on bail prior to appearing in court later in the month and isn’t allowed near the village so still need to keep my wits about me.

Had a sports massage today OMG the pain in my quads particularly abductors!!! Ouch but he said likely to be the downhills and that I’ve done a lot this year with little recovery and I admit not enough training. So a chilled out end of year and build up slowly with aim for a biggie next October yet to be decided but a few options on the list.

Well done to you too SB! Keep up the great work.

Fetch secret Santa is open I’m the official Santa this year and I know a couple of you have signed up so anyone else pop over to the naughty or nice secret Santa 2019 thread!

Decent enough run tonight, only 2.6 miles but definitely getting easier each time I go out. Decided to take it slower today as my training effect on the Garmin said I'd been overreaching on previous runs.

I suppose I've got to realise that I've been out of it for over two years and if I don't come back to it slowly I'm just going to get injured. I've been doing this long enough to know what I should be doing, and perhaps more importantly what I shouldn't be doing, it's just a case of actually heeding my own advice!

I'm not as young as I used to be and I really should be looking at some core strength and stretching exercises but it's just too tempting to just get out there and run! I think I will get the old foam roller out though!

You’re doing amazing SB but you are right to think take it slowly and build up you certainly don’t want to get injured.

My massage therapist said to me to do more stretching, tattered exercises and core work. I follow a chap on Facebook Kinetic Revolution and they had a 12 week core programme on offer so I signed up for that I just have to actually do it now. I’m struggling with mild fatigue and my head is all over the place with so much to do but I will make a start over the weekend. I’m away all next week with work and it should be the kind of thing I can do in my hotel room. If you don’t tell I’m happy to share it with you... drop me an fmail with your email.

About This Thread

*EDIT* in the current situation we are not entering races but I think we can still log any plans we may have over the coming months, whether it is learning a new skill, ticking jobs off a list, moving house(!), doing alternative exercise, aiming for training hours instead of miles, writing to family & friends, finding inventive ways to be together virtually or even entering virus races please fill in the planner and I’ll update this thread and keep our little social group going to share our goals.

Everyone is welcome, whether you don't want to set an official target or you may be aiming further but still want to pop by for a chat/offer some words of wisdom or just because the door is always open and kettle is on.

If you update the race planner after I've updated the header drop me an fmail or a reminder (or 2) on the thread so I know to update. Thanks
