I'm not bothered people have exceeded the target and well done to them for doing so. But if they plan on doing the same amount of running next year I would have thought they move up, especially if they hit 700+ miles.

But saying that things can happen. This is my third year at attempting 500 miles, I was all on target last year then got shin splints and was unable to carry on. So injury's and other things in life sometimes prevent us from hitting the target.

Also agree Dave, we all have good times and make the most of them :)

I am feeling like I might go for a run tonight, legs are feeling pretty good again, although my little toe is exceptionally sore, think I may have managed to bruise it.

If anyone has excelled themselves then that's great and they deserve to be at the top. However, there have occasionally been people who have racked up 500 miles in next to no time who really ought to be in a different target category.

I joined Fetch in 2009, and during that time my annual target has varied quite a lot between 500 and 1000 miles. During that time, just like many others, my target has been affected by different bouts of injury. However, throughout the last 10 or 11 years I have always been a member of the 500 thread. I've never deserted it because it's such a friendly, caring and helpful group of people. I'm sure there are a few others like me.

Today My wife and I did an easy paced 'long run' of 6.50 miles - that is 'long' to us anyway! We do most of our runs together. At 73 and 70 years old we always leave our 'Zimmers' at home!

At ten years your junior Evangel, I hope to still be able to run as regularly as you in ten years time. I hope that you and your wife can also continue to run for as long as you want to.

Ev you and Mrs Ev are an inspiration and I love that you run together ❤️ It means so much to me that Geordiemum run with me she will be 75 in a few weeks (and I will be 50 same day) for her birthday my dad brother and myself have clubbed together to get her a new Garmin watch I think she will love it so far she’s been on 2nd hand Fitbit’s and currently Garmin equivalent.

This morning I took myself out for a post princess and pre paras leg stretch just 2 miles but I am glad I did it my legs weren’t playing at first good by the return.

Well me and geordiemum went and conquered Paras10 again. She was only 3 weeks back after a foot op and 3 weeks off 75 - she is bloody amazing.

She asked the organisers if we could have numbers 50 & 75 to recognise our upcoming birthdays and they did indeed. We had the Red Devils land in the field just prior to the start and we were off. I let mum chose the pace and I kept running and looping back for her - that way I wasn't stressing her and I kept my legs going. I did get a comment or two from the guys in bergans saying I was making them dizzy. I skipped my way around on cloud 9 I loved it even more than normal. I even ran hills (not all of the hills and not the whole of a hill but run all the same - not done that before)

Don't know what is buzzing me but I am loving it!! Lets hope it stays with me for Loch Ness.

Hope the GNR'ers are feeling good after their run too as well as anyone else out there doing their thing.

Hally
Can't remember the last time I posted here but just thought I would pop up to say hello. I ran my slowest HM to date at the GNR on Sunday but I knew I hadn't put in the training so treated it like a long training run and didn't push myself and thoroughly enjoyed the whole weekend. It was my third time running it so I knew what to expect with the support and experience but as I wasn't have to grit my teeth and dig in I couldtruly soak it all up. Despite not pushing it my legs are still complaining today though!!

Well done for still going Hally, it would have been easy to give it a miss. And to go and enjoy the atmosphere without pressure is sometimes just nice to do.

Hope everyone else is ok, its very quiet :)

Great to hear about your ultra and para runs geordiegirl.

Hally it seems like a few of us, including me, had a slower than usual GNR. It did occur to me that my slow run meant more time in the bank for the 500 hours challenge.

I’m going to do my best to stay on track for 500 hours this year, which won’t be easy if I drop my long runs down. But I’m planning to do more shorter sessions during the week, maybe throwing some weights around and I could do some cycling too.

Just ‘eased’ back with a PT session yesterday morning and was looking forward to running again, but I have a really sore throat and high temperature, so have taken the day off work. It will be books and TV today.

About This Thread

*EDIT* in the current situation we are not entering races but I think we can still log any plans we may have over the coming months, whether it is learning a new skill, ticking jobs off a list, moving house(!), doing alternative exercise, aiming for training hours instead of miles, writing to family & friends, finding inventive ways to be together virtually or even entering virus races please fill in the planner and I’ll update this thread and keep our little social group going to share our goals.

Everyone is welcome, whether you don't want to set an official target or you may be aiming further but still want to pop by for a chat/offer some words of wisdom or just because the door is always open and kettle is on.

If you update the race planner after I've updated the header drop me an fmail or a reminder (or 2) on the thread so I know to update. Thanks
