I’m finding balancing food when marathon training very hard Phil and struggling massively to lose any weight and I know being a stone or more lighter would help my running. I’ve signed up with a nutritionist she’s a marathon runner and seems very sensible I will be blogging how it goes.

I went to parkrun this morning to run with a friend doing her first parkrun, it was actually only her 2nd ever run so understandably she struggled and only managed 1 mile not knowing how well she may be able to run (our other friend popped out her first park run in 32m!) I let her set the pace and turns out she went too fast. I’ll pace her properly next week

So I ran to parkrun did the 5k then carried on to the fells for my long run clocked up a total of 11miles (target was 8-10) and I got to 7 before my legs felt it. But I wasn’t well fuelled yesterday and I feel confident Helen will get me sorted.

Now to take all the furniture back we ordered online - when I put a search in for ‘wood’ table I don’t expect venerred tables to turn up.

Treacle
Well done everyone - sounds like its generally going well. Very interested to hear what your nutritionist says gg.

Well its all gone utterly pear shaped in treacle land - just ridiculously busy with work - long hours and lots of travel meaning that I have had no time to get out at all.

However, I did manage to run 3 miles last night, and am spinning tonight, so hopefully am back on it.

Treacle So far eat more, focus on more carbs (50-60%) less fat and current protein is fine. Trying for 60 20 20 but I finding I’m nearer 55 25 20. To eat this mix food is a challenge but I’m quite enjoying playing with the macros and balancing my meals through the week rather than eating and finding some days heavily weighted one way or another.

I feel your pain having spent years travelling long days and early mornings/late nights is a killer I always took my kit but it did t always get worn. Just make the most of the opportunities that arise and good luck getting back in the swing.

6.5m yesterday and I felt great I had a spring in my step and I ran the hills I felt like I was taking it steady but my pace was higher than I expected can a few more carbs really make this much difference???

Hope you’re all ok and quiteness is that you’re so busy. Hope the injuries are improving.

Well done all - excellent progress by the sounds of it.

Youngest did not want to go to sleep last night so decided to have a lie in this morning. Will try to get out on Sunday morning instead.

Well, that was a bit of an anti-climax. Managed to run an extra 0.3 miles of the same route as last week, so I actually ran 11.6 miles and walked 0.7 miles (mainly short ascents).

Still feeling quite tired while out running which doesn't inspire much confidence ahead of my marathon in five weeks time. Furthermore, my left knee feels quite sore, so I've been RICE -ing it while watching the rugby this afternoon. A bit annoying considering that I am wearing quite new supportive shoes and a new knee support.

Maybe I might surprise myself with next weekend's long run. It can only get better!

Oh dear oh dear, back in the sick bay again with my 3rd bout of heavy cold this winter 🙁
Went to doctor this morning and now on antibiotics for a bad chest infection.
Was going well with 149 miles in first 2 months, now not looking good for half marathon in 2 weeks time. So disappointing as really wanted to do it justice this year as the last 2 years were also affected by illness and injury. Already missed transfer and deferral deadlines so only 2 options left, run or not run.
The outlook at work is not too good either. Having gone through the consultation process I have the unofficial nod that I'm safe but looks like we are loosing a third of our team so work load will be increasing, going to be even harder to find the time to run 😟

Morning all sorry to hear you are poorly again SVr there is some nasty bugs about

Phil just a thought are the shoes too supportive? First time I ever had knee pain was when I got new support shoes they kicked my knee out of alignment I went back to the store and they agreed that I’d been wrongly advised by their staff ... it was this point I opted to go down neutral route.

I did 4.5 windy run over the fells on Tuesday, planning a nice gentle leg stretch this weekend although we’re off to the boat and it’s forecast for 50mph winds again so I’ll see how it goes.

I was at SportFit last night light headed again doing planks and other floor work it’s happened a few times so spoke to the trainer... despite me working on fuelling for running I forgot to have a snack last night because I wasn’t hungry! So he thinks that was the problem.

Marathon race week menu planning today. I have honestly found this so helpful & fingers crossed will get me around the run feeling stronger. Have a good weekend all and hope everyone is feeling better.

Sad news SV. I hope that you feel well enough in time to do the half marathon.

No run this weekend. In addition to my knee, I stubbed a middle toe quite badly at a friend's house last night and it is a bit sore. I don't think it's broken as I can put some pressure on it although it's not painless either!

Off to the physio on Thursday for a sports massage and to have a look at my knee. If the swelling and overall soreness goes down, I will look at a longer run next weekend.

About This Thread

*EDIT* in the current situation we are not entering races but I think we can still log any plans we may have over the coming months, whether it is learning a new skill, ticking jobs off a list, moving house(!), doing alternative exercise, aiming for training hours instead of miles, writing to family & friends, finding inventive ways to be together virtually or even entering virus races please fill in the planner and I’ll update this thread and keep our little social group going to share our goals.

Everyone is welcome, whether you don't want to set an official target or you may be aiming further but still want to pop by for a chat/offer some words of wisdom or just because the door is always open and kettle is on.

If you update the race planner after I've updated the header drop me an fmail or a reminder (or 2) on the thread so I know to update. Thanks
