The Mighty Fleecy
Fetch: 2 years ago I targeted 1000 miles. Only made it by running crazy mileage in December. Last year I decided to have a goal of 80 miles a month, and that was both much easier to reach 1000 miles but also that was the most niggle free I’ve ever been. I can highly recommend the consistent monthly mileage approach!

Well 80 miles is the minimum you dimboid, but it’s MUCH easier to overachieve by a few extra miles here and there over the year and reach 1000 easily compared with having to ramp it right up in the last month If you have a couple of low months it’s really hard to catch up!

I've finally listened to ep 34... while out on a run (running again at last!) FML, good to know OH is on the mend Fetch, how about standing near a fence that you can only see over if you stand on tiptoe, although be careful who's fence, or you might get reported for peepin We have toads out here (el sapo) which will secrete a spray from their skin if they feel threatened and the spray is generally fatal to dogs. A friend's dog succumbed and one of our Jack Russells almost died, but we got him to the vet just in time. There's about a 20 minute window where adrenaline and antibiotics can work. I remember our Jack looking extremely ill and like he was hallucinating. I don't know how the toad's secretions affect humans though... not willing to find out either. As for the ahem 'stomach issues' what works for me is water... lots of it, and a big drink of water just before I go to sleep. Occasionally I need to get up for a wee in the night but I'd rather that than worry about finding a toilet during a run. If I do have an issue during a run it always tends to be when I haven't had as much water as usual. Great episode, the FE podcast is my favourite podcast |

Almost finished this week's. Another one with gastric issues during a run. V annoying. Katie, I liked the sound of the swim. At Heron we have a Night Swim every year. The buoys for the small loop are lit and everyone gets a glowstick. There is music, and chilli for afterwards and it's a fundraiser for the Disabled Water Ski Association whose facilities we use. I've done two so far and really looking forward to the third on Weds. |

57.5 Degrees of Pain
It was I who commented on Twitter about the dead (drunk) body I found. Of course now I realise my Twitter handle gives no clue to my Fetch identity! Had a friend when I lived in the US who didn't consider a longer run to be a success unless he came home with several (sometimes weighty or bulky) found items. I find running my morning commute and intestinal calm to be mutually exclusive. |

Daddy Shark
Strong coffee (by mouth) 40 minutes before running works like an enema. A friend of mine once called it my depth charge. [Fellow Fetchies: "thanks for sharing, Daddy Shark"] |
