I'm really really tired this week - finding it very hard to get a decent run and a total fail at early rising this morning

What I need to remember is that I ran the furthest I've run in eons at the weekend and that will kick back...

I CAN let myself off this week
I CAN keep drinking water and focus on what I'd call clean food
I CAN still run and keep the move ahead continuing

CAN!

Means focus on what you CAN do and accept sometimes that means you CAN rest and recover

How's your weeks going?

I CAN admire your tenacity and pluck FRU

I CAN also get out for a walk every day but also listen to my body and take a nap if and when it’s needed

I'm realising that this CAN journey is about changing what we see as negative and self care is not all about pushing hard all the time

Trust your feeling better and better all the time Tup

When I say no one that's a massive lie as I CAN chat to you two :-)

Mornings the best for up and at 'em. I'm going to have to re-awaken my morning routine.... CAN challenge set

The Scribbler
I can run 10k after 3 weeks off running and still feeling a bit under the weather. I can run an interval set first thing in the morning, even if the 'pace' sections are slow.
I can step down from a volunteer role that I have loved doing but that I no longer have the drive or enthusiasm to deliver.
I will get back to running at least 3 times a week and increasing the distance of my long run so I'm ready for my May half marathon (but I don't have to do it all in one week).
I will spend some time writing blog posts about my trip to Rwanda this weekend.

Great to hear from you scribbler & yeah fill us in on that adventure!

How’s your plans going northern?

I’ve a run challenge today.... perfect weather again.. shorts on their way out!

Measured myself today, am seeing small positive changes which is like whoooooooohooooooooooooo!

Had a good binge watch of Queer Eye too this morning... helping me to focus on the good bits and vibes to continue onwards and upwards 😊

Speed... I’ve noted now I’m using strava that speed is something for other runners than I.. it’s really rewarding to drop the need to focus on that and instead what I did yesterday on my long run (omg to actually say the words is like music to my little ears!) was to repeat to myself often in my head, slow and strong, steady and strong, keeping me mindful that for now I’m much happier covering the distance in my own way

Plus I’ve never been fast... aiming for 11mm will do for me, anything below that will be a bonus

Interesting comment about voluntary work scribbler... your right of course, it’s so good to give the time but thinking about you is good for both sides, quality time, important to be aware of. Good for you

Ok.. so yesterday’s run

It was like operation dad taxi/amazon prime delivery/mother’s day gift/food shop... I got the easy job of waiting in for the Amazon man lol! Anyhow it delayed my run till 2:45. It was a beautiful day here.. shorts weather (could also have been run vest weather too I realised). Half of me wanted to wimp out and do a short run... but oh yes stubborn head is back, do 8 do 8 do 8 it taunted me! So I set off and just did the mantra above.. 8 in the bag.. it was ok, about 5ish I really felt it and the heat was getting to me. Had a short walk break but overall it was lovely..being back to a long run is just brilliant

Thinking about CANs for the week ahead

- can drink 6-8 glasses of water a day
- can reshuffle my training to get a beach run in on another day than Friday
- can take some alcohol free drinks away with me for the weekend
- can think about lunches.. and use up the remaining frozen soup from last week, result!

Booze:
I’ve been playing with alcohol free fakeys, I’ve also joined a group on Facebook called club soda.. it’s habbitual drinking I want to change... both are positive so far, so much so that his nibs actually purchased the bud zero lager yesterday and whilst we still had some full fat mixing the two meant we dran so much less overall.. I’ve found two really good alcohol free red wines and the bud zero. Small steps, they just really good on that night you think “fancy a drink” like Thursday.. I may start to go step two which would be a real faker as these all still have calories.. I do love not feeling so crap though..
