Watching and then reading up on the Newcastle Can movement really struck a chord with me

I've been in questionable state for probably much of 10 months now, my running is really suffering and my weight grows

I need to discipline of a weekly weigh in, and some structure to follow, setting small goals and getting thoughts and ideas from others in a similar position

At the moment:
- too worried about what I look like

- running max of 2.5miles, a norm of just over 1 mile
- no energy, rather be asleep!
- alcohol needs a check
- better food habits when at work

Goal
- Long term... back to half mara fitness, lose 3 stone
- short term... start doing something about it!

Here's the rub... I know there's established threads already, is there room for another? Can there be a FetchCan?

#FRUCAN :-)

Maybe plan some milestones to get you there - like perhaps completing a couple of parkruns (great for reminding you that runners come in all shapes and sizes) by the end of June? Then enter a 10k at the start of September to keep you focused during the summer; and then a winter half?

To change things up a bit and give yourself something else to think about than mileage, try one of the Fetch games - Who Squares Wins and Fetchpoint are ideal for mixing up your close-to-home routes.

And start today!

Actually I'm just playing around with Trello at the moment for a creative project with a friend so we can set 4 week goals and achieve them...

There may well be something in that if anyone else is looking to work in a team on it?

I have to say whilst I 100% get Parkrun I've found it a negative experience last few months as I'm going backwards and the praise side isn't for me, esp when you've added at least an extra 2mins to each mile.. so totally that's for some but I think my magic will be in personal quiet goals

Goals is everything - small achievable steps ahead.. to the main thing

I hadn't seen the Newcastle Can thing.......

anyway, *follows thread* #FRUCAN

- and I'm with you on the alcohol needs looking at - maybe some small goals there to start would help with other goals elsewhere? - (for me too)

It's Hugh fernley whittingstall digging around the food and advertising industry, in all honesty it's nothing we didn't know but it's a timely reminder of how easy it is to quickly forget

Lucky for me I don't like "fresh" fruit juices, but I do like Diet Coke...

First challenge is drink more water.

Let's see how I get in with that goal, like the opposite of the good lord my job is to turn wine into sparkly water this week

What I'd like to DO is DO and be with some like minded people... I know I'm not going to change this overnight, I need to be good to myself and make targets realistic

Rosehip - we finished our gin last night so yes you can!

Today:-
In a minute I'm going for a walk - I've been promising myself to do a lunch time walk for months.... today's the day

Water: Failed so far.. however I've the afternoon to catch up - 3 x pints of water I think!

The next thing we can do is keep talking..

Now I know there are a few followers I feel like I might actually keep this thread going, I did try to do something similar earlier in the year which was called "cancancan" and it ended up a big damp squibb - however the point is I "could" have decided to just keep it going even if it was just me talking to myself...

So in that vein, and if no one particularly minds I'll just keep this ticking around, because I do feel FetchCan and there may be something in here that you decide to comment on as I go on this little journey with myself :-)

Goal today is to drink water again all afternoon, go for a walk and actually get a "lunchtime" and chill out a bit at work - by that I mean get to the more logical side of it and not get ratty or emotionally involved in all the little "stuff" that doesn't really matter

I'm running later, at the end of work, my small goal being 2 miles, and to get on the beach I my walsh's

I've decided not to join any slimming club, and not to go near any scales. Both are just too negative for me personally

I want to keep a check on what I do eat, today's lunch is salad, chickpea and 2 tablespoons of pasta with pesto

Last Night: I used the SMALL saucepan for the pasta - OMG go me! :-)

What a revelation.. smaller portion, use a smaller pan! So we had two tablespoons each for tea and two into each lunchbox - normally we'd have had most of the big pan between two people

Small steps "can's"
