Muttley
I am ashamed to say I have done nothing, zero, nada, zilch, rien, ничего on the rower for several days. Partly because of distraction due to the housemove (these things never go smoothly) and partly because, well, CBA. But the plan is to resume gently on Monday.

I'm a creature of routine and I need a new one. I think I've gone as far as I can with whatever flavour of the Pete Plan. Anyone know of a good plan for a beginner/resumer/slightly creaky senior? (the big six-zero next year, oh no).

Right, quick update:

Dad is home from hospital and settle back at home. I got home from Leicester about 3 this afternoon, reasonably happy that he's in good hands with family and carers etc. I might go back up next weekend depending how things go through the week.

So I got back, unpacked, changed and went in The Shed to get going again. 60 minutes, 13.75 km done, plus a gentle 5 minutes warming down. It feels good to be back on the rower.

Hope the housemove is sorted smoothly and quickly Muttley. Also age is just a number (but 60 is quite a big number.;-)).

Well that will bloody teach me to be optimistic. He had a fall during the night and broke his blooming hip! Back in Leicester at a hospital bedside waiting on a time for them to operate on him.😔😔

Oh no! So sorry to hear that, Nellers. I hope they can find a slot soon and that he's quickly on the mend. Sending lots of positive vibes.

Muttley, I think CBA is a natural reaction to distraction/stress. Hope the move is done and dusted soon.

Not sure I can really help with suggestions for a new plan as I've only used the beginner's Pete Plan but I hope you find something you like the look of soon. How about signing up for the C2 workout of the day emails? I haven't studied them closely but presumably they have some kind of plan behind them?

Hope your dad recovers quickly Nellers.

Muttley, I sympathise with the CBA (although I don't have the excuse of a house move). Have had a really busy few weeks (in and out of work), and will be going on holiday in two weeks time, so think I'll put the plan on hold for a bit - will try to fit in some gym sessions before then around work and running, so will do some erg sessions, but probably a bit shorter than those on the plan, and maybe try to fit some interval sessions in as well – possibly just stick to the interval sessions. Can then try to pick the plan back up next month, when hopefully things will be a bit less hectic.

So, an easy 5000 done to get back into the saddle. Felt harder than it should have but to be expected really.

Looking around for some workout ideas I stumbled across a post on the C2 blog, which I've put in the thread repository of knowledge.

Nellers, I hope things are improving for your Dad. I'm fortunate that Mother of Muttley is in robust health despite her 80 years but this is the kind of thing I dread.

Search “kiwi pair” on YouTube. One half of a multiple world champs pair doing “row along” videos of his erg workouts. Some are fairly restrained, some are just evil! You can probably find some there to work with.

Also Dark Horse and Training Tall both do at least a weekly rowing workout.

Not sure how that lot would build in to a program but it certainly would give variety and fitness.
