Which gym Lammo? I believe we are local.
If I wasnt marathon training I would definately be tempted.
I may have a go anyway...

I remember doing an online challenge regarding the boatrace but cant find it for looking.

The Gym in Reading town centre, so not local to home exactly.

Handily, just next door to Burger King.

sinj999, I bet, like I did, you had a scan through the old C2CTC workouts (if that's something you do). I couldn't find it there!

I am wondering now whether it was something that was set up on RowPro/Oarbits to coincide with The Boat Race.

Yes, I did scan the old C2CTC workouts.

This month's is a bugger.

Row 20 minutes
Restricted at 20 SPM

(averaged stroke rate)

www.c2ctc.com for anyone interested.

Yep! but I have a naturally slow stroke rate (around 22) so I don't find it so hard. For a short lightweight my best 30r20 (79XX metres) is weirdly not far off my best unrestricted 30 minutes which was probably set at 24 spm.

The only 30 minute "proper effort" I've ever done was a 30r20 so I've no idea how I'd go with unrestricted rate.

Well I had a bit of a go at doing 6779m as a Boat Race Challenge.

THe only thin I can say is that I have a particularly ugly Boat Race on my log now. If you look carefully at the graph (I'll move it into FE once I've eaten something) you can see the exact moment where it broke me!

The boatrace participants also have the benefit of the incoming tide - and the record would have had a decent tailwind too. A bit tough to replicate those on a rowing machine!

C2CTC I a little painful indeed.

Managed 4923 metres = 2:01.9 pace at 20 spm. not my cup of tea.

Morning all. Nothing to report, taking a day off either side of a hilly 10-mile road race yesterday. Not too steady on the stairs today.
