Hmmm. I did 10,000 metres this morning but it hasn't shown up in the C2 logbook for transfer to Fetch, although I did upload it from RowPro. Maybe later. It was 5,000 metres easy (2:16-ish at 20 spm) then 2 x 10 minutes steady (2:12 and 2:11-ish, 22-23 spm).

A solid 17km from me this evening, with a couple of 90s interludes of light paddling. I am now toying with the idea of having a crack at >15km in a hour before I'm off the injury bench and back running. Madness.

Thats doable by you Oranj.

Another 4 x 3km for me tonight, then a little bit of "coaching " for my oldest who wants to use the rower as the cardio part of his fitness plan and is trying to get his technique sorted so he gets better at it. He can't understand why, after only a few sessions, he's not able to get as long a stroke or as much power generated as his weedy old man.:-)

Oranj - Madness, yes, but it's got to be done. :-)

Nice rowing, Muttley!

Nellers - hope your oldest eventually appreciates the coaching. I remember my younger self being similarly unreceptive to the notion that technique is more important than raw speed/brute strength!

Did a 5000m TT as part of today's session. Now down to 22:13.5 - a PB by about 25 seconds - without losing my eyeballs along the way, with the final 1000m done at the same average pace as the 2000m on Sunday. Guess that means I need to revisit the 2000m before too long.

Out of curiosity I just googled the University Boat Race Course. It is 6779 metres and the record is 16:19, which is a 500m split of 1:12.2.

Is there no "Boat Race Challenge" type thing where people compete for the fastest time over the distance of the Boat Race on a Concept2?

If not I think someone (possibly a disparate bunch of runners) should start one.

Who's going first?

OK, I'll give it a go tonight.

BTW, does temperature affect the drag factor? I row outside when it's dry and it was much colder this morning (about 4 degrees instead of about 9 degrees) and found I had to reduce the damper setting because the DF was reading over 150 instead of the usual c. 135 for that particular setting.

Nellers, in the past I have rowed a challenge where we had to erg the most metres in 16:19. That way, everyone finishes at the same time (this works well for online rowing on Oarbits - everyone finishes together and then has a quick text chat in the chat room).

Air pressure and temperature will have a *very* small effect on the drag/damper, I'd have thought, likely a lot less than 5%. I occasionally test mine and it never varies much between summer and winter so perhaps something else changed for you?

Blimey Nellers that's some split, must be much easier in an actual boat...

I've been demoted at the gym, somebody has banged in a 1:31

Nice going CW

To be fair, lammo, they have their 7 mates in the boat with them helping.
