Good stuff. Hope this is just some odd temporary blip then.

I had a very strange blip on my watch this morning.

3 minutes into my run I’d recorded 9.75 miles. It seems that it thinks I’d started at the far side of Burnley, run in a straight line to the point in Clitheroe where I stopped the clock! It didn’t even track the quarter of a mile that I’d walked.

I’ve not been to that part of Burnley for weeks.

Anyone's Suunto (Ambit 3 peak specifically) completely miscalculating elevation?

Mine's putting in countless number of small rises and gains that is totally overcalculating by amount of elevation. Last night was 4x then correct figure, today about 6 or 8x the correct figure.

I suspect it's just because mine's got old. It suddenly started doing it a couple of months back but every run is now way out.

Have you checked the pressure sensors haven't become blocked?

This link includes advice about it. I've known others who have had that problem.

Thank you. That's the exact problem, specifically this bit:

Check that the watch is not worn too tight on your arm. The pressure sensor openings should not be blocked.

The strap is broken and I'm having to use one hole down from what I'd usually wear at best, so it is too tight on my wrist and obviously blocking the sensor.

Definitely time to get a new strap then!!

Thanks again.

A brilliant answer. Particularly because I honestly never expected that would be the reason. And if I can work out how to get a new strap on, it'll be an easy fix. Might be easier said than done as when I took into Timpsons when it first went, he was less than complementary about the straps, etc.

And the upload seems to be knackered again, this happens about once per year and I can never remember how to fix it

Got something to say?
