DeeGee, it’s not been too bad the last few years (when I’ve been spectating rather than running), last time I did it in 2014 it was quite warm, though I think not as bad as it’s supposed to be on Sunday.

I've got in three times, and found all three to be too warm, based on a winter of training. Then again, I've always raced better in the autumn, and I've never run London Marathon without a teensy-tiny hangover.

Oh my :-0 I can’t imagine running a marathon with any sort of hangover (even a tiny one)!

I guess that’s the problem with spring marathons, it’s likely to be warmer than what you’ve trained in, but given the winter we’ve had, I’d not really been prepared for such a dramatic jump in temperature - especially as there will be zero time to acclimatise.

It doesn't actually take that long to acclimatise and there is stuff that can be done now if time allows. I favour hot yoga but others use saunas or go running with extra layers on. I'm running VMLM as a training run ahead of Comrades so I will be quite glad of the temperatures.

I sweat like a pig in a parka regardless, so if i were running London (which i am not!), it would make little odds to how soggy i got....

That VMLM with the beer was a 3:40:01 finish.

If only I could have found an extra second somewhere...

:-)

Thanks for the tips Becca7 - one of my club mates has already suggested similar, so will try the extra layers and sauna.

66/100 Thought it was very nice of the authorities to close the Mall to all road traffic and hang all of the Commonwealth Flags out for me this morning, then had the Horse Guards escort me through Hyde Park. Very nice.

56/100 after a tough intervals session. Why do they never feel any easier?
