Wriggling Snake
I speak to my dad every day, sounds well, he does tell me the same things days on end but that is ok. Yesterday I mentioned you can get some of the Women's World Cup football on the Red button.

He had no idea what that was...so then we had half a hours worth of shenanigans with his TV finding where the equivalent of the Red button is via his cable TV. Turns out it is channel 991...he is as happy as Larry today...3 whole games to watch!

Just back from ministering to FiL. He’s getting much weaker every week - I really don’t know how he’s still with us 😪. He has pressure sores on his heels and I acted a “dirty nurse” to the district nurse when she came to redress them I can touch my thumb and first finger around his calf which is heartbreaking 😪

Brief conversation in comments on his training - he's back doing indoor rowing and trying to stay in a routine on that for the moment, and I can see that is keeping up the last few days.

As if by magic........

News from the Old Country today is that dad is actually surprising everyone with his powers of recovery. He’s back on solid food (although needing help to eat it), his pneumonia is on the way out and yesterday we found out that the physio has been with him the previous couple of days getting him up out of bed, again with significant help.

None of us thought he’d get this far at all, let alone so soon. Maybe he’s got more fight in him than we thought.

I thought I'd start a thread, as lots of us have elderly folks that we worry about/care for.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
