Are xc races too elitist?

Looking at the first post XC is elitist in the sense going to the cinema, having a car or eating at The Ivy is elitist i.e. you have to pay for it.

XC is not elitist per se just look at the back of the field in any local league.

XC is different in its proper racing, little or no room for fun, dressing up or tutus.
