1st time SUPing followed by swim on Tahunanui Beach (along with at least one Stingray)
Kayak trip with father of one of my daughter's friends tomorrow...

30 mins this evening, on the dark roads in Bordon - honestly street lights are like rocking horse poo over there! Had to pick up one of my boys from his SCUBA lesson in the pool there.

I find the new LED street lights are pretty poor in terms of actually giving enough light to see by even where they exist....

Agree that the LED lights are poor. The problem is, that they are spaced wider apart than the old street lights, so there are patches of near darkness between them.

interestingly the new LED lights around here are in fact much better than the old lights! There has been no difference in spacing between them in these parts so I guess we are lucky. Overall though, living in a city where light pollution ruins the night sky it would be wonderful to experience real darkness!

They just replaced the yellow/sodium lights here with LEDS, and put "hoods" to stop them shining upwards.
They could have got more bang for their buck by silvering the inside of the hoods....
As a result we have pools of light separated by dimness.
