oh no! That old wisdom of heat or nail varnish or whatever to rid ticks is now considered very unsafe in respect of removing the tick! I'll get some pointed tweezers, thanks Lesley. Great half year Fenland..no reason to drop off for the rest of the year! A mizzley humid morning down here but ok for running. Having a couple of run free days as I've hit my target for where I want to be by the end of June. |

On the tick front I've had a few and would recommend a specific remover , if you use normal tweezers you risk them pucking up their guts back inside you as you remove them ....

Oh really? Better get a proper remover then. It was only the second one I have had, wanted it gone quickly.

6 months in and 625 miles done. Some have already reached and smashed the 1000 mile target and some are struggling, however, if you're able to get out running that's the main thing, fast or slow, short or long, 'just do it'. 1000 miles is just a target, running is just fantastic freedom. Shit wtf is this all about...... |

Hmm tics ... after camping near Glenelg a couple of years back, I think we extracted about 50 between us! And just finger nails to hand. Back in Scotland now, 18h behind schedule due to flight delays. Cooler sea swim followed by 5.7 wet land miles this evening. |

Hmm and arghh Peter...couldn't be done with that many ticks and finger nails..or even one for that matter! The idea of getting Lyme disease kinda makes me want to be ultra careful. Good thinking Fenland..there may come a time when my target might be a bit less but 1,000 seems ok to me for a year. I've never done exceptional miles like 2,000 in a year in all my few decades of running. Although historical, my race times were fairly good so I feel that I should be grateful to be healthy enough to still be running and enjoying it. |

Lyme disease less likely the further north you go, but possible. Also a nasty form of encephalitis bourne by tics on continent including Switzerland. Swim out west so it would have been rude not to run up Marwick Head and return via Birsay Bay Tearooms. 😉☕️🍲🍰 Now on 612 |
