Yes LD, it is. I like him in small doses (e.g. Halle-Bopp on HIGNFY ;-)) but this is the first proper novel of his I'm trying. Early days and I'll persevere.

I cannot read him at all, I tried one of his books and didn't make a whole chapter...

My current book, Moon Tiger by Penelope Lively, was one of the books on A Good Read (R4) on Friday night. (It's one of my treats, listening to A Good Read at 11pm on a Friday night, tucked up in bed and knowing the weekend lies ahead :-))

Anyway, the woman recommending it said she re-reads it regularly. I'm enjoying it but I'm not sure I would re-read it very often, if at all. The main character, Claudia, is pretty insufferable though admittedly interesting.

I've read a bit of Will Self and quite enjoyed him

I read the Book of Dave a few years back. It took a while to get into it but I persevered and finished it. I found it a reasonable read. Can't stand Self when I have seen him on tv though as he comes across as a right wanker.
