Another Sunday session at weights with J ( firstborn) and a tryout of my new shoes, very happy with them. She filmed me doing deadlift and squats and my form is very good. Next six week intermediate weights course starts on Wednesday looking forward to it and may start to up the actual weight.

First session of new block, my wee legs are tired, Jenna made us work really hard and I managed 3 x 8 at 30kg!

Quite excited today as I hit my first goal - body weight deadlift. And then beat it straight away :-) so I’ve gone from 55kg to 70kg PB! Happy with that.

So you should be! star

Great work Cath - bodyweight is a brilliant goal as it's so specific to the individual.

Bloody hell, well done! It's tough getting past the bodyweight lift - more psychological than anything most of the time!

I'm heading to the gym in a bit for my last squat and bench session before this weekend's competition - just a practice of my opening singles and nothing else. Then that'll be it until Saturday afternoon! I'd much rather be lifting in the AM flight, but nevermind (given the numbers, we probably won't start the PM flight until about 2-3pm).

Good luck with your competition i_w. Don't forget to enjoy it too!

I weigh 50kg and can deadlift 55 - but on Saturday I tried to go from 50 straight to 60kg ... and couldn't even shift the bar off the floor. I have a feeling I was trying to use too much upper body, which obvs is very much secondary (or thirdry!) in deadlifts.

Even after an hour of heavy lifting I was then v.pleased to single leg press 2 x 7 @35kg (lthen R) then 10 @ 72.5 and then ooff ooff 5 @ 80kg. Think that 80 is a PB but I have only jst started leg oressing really.

That’s impressive leg strength, Sharkie :-). We don’t do much leg press, so I wouldn’t know what my PB is. I don’t really like it personally - my dodgy knee somehow feels more vulnerable on a leg press.

And in case you're wondering about that title, well, I like alliteration and one can be too po-faced about the use of girl/lady/woman.
