Meanwhile the NFU says: NFU President Minette Batters : "To sign up to a trade deal which results in opening our ports, shelves & fridges to food which would be illegal to produce here would not only be morally bankrupt, it would be the work of the insane." Aarrgh then why vote leave and advocate voting leave then??? What else are trade deals but compromises where we give away some advantages to secure others? Opening ports up was always going to be the kind of thing that had to be on the table. Honestly we're acting like we haven't negotiated a trade deal for 40 years or more and had other people to do it for us? Wait you mean that's some of what the EU actually did? Who knew? |

Worth remembering that the NFU were very much in favour of remain. Despite the overwhelming views of their membership.

Oddly the local NFU rep here reckons that they advocated remain. Well you could have fooled me. I've always felt in a minority as a farmer, and I can't recall the NFU putting anything but a leave slant on things.

And given half a chance farmers will happily go back to intensive methods. Husbandry and environmental concerns are very much of secondary importance. It's only subsidies that have held the line in those respects. Don't be fooled by the talk about high standards. |

I spoke to one person who voted leave. He was asked by his area to lead on the Brexit project given he was the one that wanted to leave.

I think it was said in jest and he would have been the person to lead on it anyway.... In other news I see no deal noises are now being made |

Maybe I'm missing the joke but could you expand on your comment TWM? Are you just saying that brexit is a religious belief?
