That way though gives you the chance to say leave it not but also if you want to have your day on the type of departure then you can do so.

One of the main whinges about what is happening is that supposedly people didn't know what they were voting for last time. So let's choose what sort of exit is preferred of what's available. Once that is known, we can have the second part choosing whether we want to leave on those terms or remain, with just one or two weeks between the two parts of the referendum. |

If there were two. I'd agree with Baz...Do we as a country after all this, still want to leave. If the answer comes back yes. Then it is no Deal v whatever Deal, whoever negotiated it is currently on the table......that could be a long way off. As I see it, all outcomes are blocked, they still maybe blocked when Bojo takes the helm. Therefore GE. Brexit gets a huge vote, as it would. We then exit stage right. |

I'm not at all sure that such a huge number of people actually do want to leave the EU. They want their side to win, and they want to stick it to the liberal establishment elite blah, which is what has been whipped up by the right-wing populists. But I'm not sure a specific form of exit from the EU is really that high on their agenda. If they could be made to feel they have somehow 'won', without us having to leave the EU, then job's a good'un.

I think you are wrong about that. A great still want to leave hence the result very recently in the euro elections.

I really don't think it's so much about the EU, even with the Brexit Party vote in the euro elections. It's more a culture war thing, which the Brexit Party represents one side of just as much as it represents anti-EU sentiment. I'm not saying that a large number of people have moved from being Leavers to being Remainers. I'm saying that a fair chunk of Leave voters just want their side to win, without being too concerned about what 'win' actually means.

I reckon that's how it has become, rather than that is how it was, we now have entrenched views. The answer is a compromise. as it always was going to be after a 48/52 split. May's deal is as good as it was going to get.

I fail to see how leaving the EU is a compromise between leaving and remaining.

So you are agreeing we should leave, because that was the result of the vote.
