I think generalising everybody in the 17.4 as xenophobic thugs or guilty by association, is totally unhelpful. I am firmly in the revoke, remain, reform camp. However the last r (reform) is very important. I share some of the main concerns some Leavers have articulated (such as Jovi), I don't like the EU's harsh definitions of borders and the way those outside Europe are treated, but these are things best dealt with inside the EU. I also don't like though equally as much the "it's gone on too long, let's get it over with" approach. Would you like that if surgeons talked that way about removing a cancer, or civil engineers talked that way about reinforcing a bridge, or software engineers talked that way about fixing a bug in the new system that auto-pilots a jet airliner? Of course not. It is regretful it has taken this long. There has been a fair degree of incompetence on all sides, but it is what it is, lets at least get to some sort of solution the vast majority of us can live with. I was hoping (be careful what you wish for) that Lidington (a remainer) takes over from May, as he won't have the same worry (in theory) of asking for a long extension, so we can work out what needs doing. We ain't gonna sort this in 3 months, we'll just end up no-deal or May-dealed. |

Name me incompetence on the EU side? I'm interested. They (the EU) seem to have had the patience of a saint dealing with out ineptitude!

The cabinet coup that never was source Peston: "The cabinet coup against @theresa_may is over before it even started. Authoritative sources close to @michaelgove tell me he does not believe there should be a caretaker prime minister - so it won't be him. And @DLidington has said on the record he does not want to be PM... The only outstanding question is whether @theresa_may changes her mind and decides later today - having seen @BorisJohnson @DavidDavisMP @DamianGreen et al, or the nearest the Tories have these days to the "men in grey suits" itv.com |

Still, it gave the BBC a great excuse to get the biggest march in living history off the news.

Funny I still see the Beeb as being left / remain leaning! Plus, a march that happened yesterday is hardly today’s news!

Well done people's vote marchers, must have been nice to be part of a historic event. The last march that big coincided with the collapse of Labour, maybe the Tory leaders will think twice before saying they speak for everyone.
