Uh-oh - tonight Guardian story. No deal now most popular with public.

"A poll by ICM conducted after last week’s government defeat and seen by the Guardian asked voters what should happen next.

The most popular option, backed by 28% of voters, was a no-deal Brexit. Demonstrating the divide in public opinion, the next most popular option, supported by 24% of the public, is to start the process of holding a second referendum.

Crikey. I'd like to see the other options. (https://www.icmunlimited.com/polls/), Revoke article 50 and remain doesn't seem to be in there...

"most popular" but with only 28% support. So 72% do not support then...

There's a high (and possibly increasing) percentage of public mood of "for goodness sake, I don't care what you do, just finish it already" according to some MPs, reporting on what they are hearing from their constituents.

Now I know some MPs are using that to drive their own agenda of No Deal better than No Brexit (and even better than delaying, with risk of not getting their deal) but I suspect there is a genuine risk that public backing for delay is going down and for any conclusion (whether cancelling Brexit, No Deal brexit or any deal Brexit) rising? :-) G

How about 'stab yourself with a broken bottle'? Was that an option? It beggars belief how many people still think no-deal is a viable option, rather than the pointless, self-induced total disaster it would be. I really don't know how it might be possible to get through to these people, but we desperately need to.

One thing which continues to baffle me is how weak the Remain camp is in refuting shit like Fox's thing about 'trying to steal Brexit'. They're almost apologetic, instead of saying loudly, over and over, "No, it's you lot that's trying to defy the will of the people! You're afraid of a 2nd referendum because you know that the people actually want to stay in the EU now!".

I heard a lot of "I'm bored with brexit" at my last club session which happened to coincide with the vote last Tuesday.

I hope enough people realise that neither May's deal, nor any other WA, nor "No Deal" is not going to end things. I'm not under any illusion that revoking A50 will stop the arguments either. There just isn't an end to that. However revoking A50 will stop the actual disruption which is harming people already.

Also Sky have run a separate poll where 26% of people thought No deal meant remain!!!!

Let's just call the whole thing off. Explain to people in an adult way that we are not going to self-immolate. I'm sorry but if 26% of people really think no deal = remain, then they shouldn't be voting on such serious issues. We are so ill-informed as a nation in general.

Anyway at least a no deal is good news for vegans... 35% tariffs on dairy products, milk and cheese under WTO, they will be being dropped quicker than you can say "a turmeric and almond latte please..."

No, they don't. My missus is an IT professional, intelligent woman (obv) but just not very connected with politics or current affairs (unless her pals mention it on FB or she catches a news article, or human interest story on TV) and she didn't realise Brexit wasn't done when March comes.

Don't overestimate "the public" understanding of all this shizzle! :-) G

(and don't say what about English cheese.... how many different varieties of cheddar can one person stomach? The French have over 400 different varieties of cheese, the Brits seem to have over 400 different versions of 1 cheese.)
