Yeah, it's the frustration that makes me swear. I can be pretty hard on myself. I'm exactly the same when I go for a run and head out too fast, because I know it's going to bite me later on. You can probably tell I'm already over thinking things.

At least in a couple of weeks I'll be able to authentically say I'm climbing the walls! :-)

As others have said don’t worry about strength. Think about footwork, balance and technique.

I'm only a lurker here, but sad news, Andy Pollitt has died (of a cerebral aneurysm). He was only 56 ukclimbing.com

I first heard of him when I was doing a bit of local bouldering on the walls round here. A mate retold some crazy adventures in North Wales with Andy. I was always keen to read what he'd been up to, he was a real rockstar. Such a shame.

On the subject of strength, I can do two pull ups for the first time in my life. It's not quite on a level with the yoot who hang around the pull up bar most of the evening, but I'm happy

1 pull up is a struggle for me to be honest Mac. 2 pretty much makes you a superhero.

That’s great Linds. I find that regular climbing leads to fairly quick gains. As soon as we stop going regularly it quickly turns to shit. Mind you my sessions can be so variable.

I find mine variable, too, and I'm sometimes a bit frustated that I'm still on the beginners' routes, but then I remember that I have a shoulder that doesn't work and am significantly older than most of the other people at the wall :)
