Interesting. Fetch provides something that is of value to me as it's the main place I log all my running stuff and all that IT related stuff I use but know nothing about is worth paying for so I'll click on an option. This is so even if the opportunity cost might be lower for less exciting and less interesting places (Garmin Connect / strava etc).

There is also a social element which is equally of value that is more like a "club". So still happy to pay something but it would be fantastic if the money was for a thing that was a bit like a small piece of crowd funded, participation of something I love (completely subordinate to the mighty RW of course), rather that a "subscription". How much better is it to say "I am a member of Fetch" rather than "I subscribe to Fetch" (I subscribe to RW btw).

P.S Subordinated participation equity would also be non-taxable.... Just sayin.

Frankly I,d rather Fetch did a crowd funding bid and take it back from Nutmag whatever.
I,d rather buy a share and then a sub fee but given my avatar you might expect that.
Something to think about but frankly atm I get more here than another place where I pay £45 per annum so unsure of my position on just a sub. Need to have a think.

oi you
It's gotta be worth a tenner just to know you'll never need to hunt around for cheap kitchen units.

I shall sell my grandmother immediately to raise the funds.

Nutmeg-Roedeer! Excellent HG - I'd give you a free pass for that alone.

Interesting....I *probably* would pay now because I have been here a while and I like the site but most of the websites I use are free and the ones that want to charge me (national newspapers mainly) I don't bother with.

If I had just signed up to this site yesterday and I saw that I'd think 'no I won't bother' and I wonder if it will reduce the numbers of new people signing up (although if there is no difference between paying and not paying other than turning off the ads then I guess those who don't want to pay just won't do so.)

Also although there are sweeteners now for the two higher sums what will happen in a year's time - will the £50 and £25 options get more 'benefits' next time or will they get another pin badge, T shirt etc. Or will they just opt for the £10 option next time.

I understand the reasons behind it but agree with a number of the other posters here too who have raised various points

I remember the furore when Natmag took over all those years ago. Fetch wrote a piece and answered loads of questions on the forum at that time as people were so worried about the future of the site and the fact we had to agree to new T's & C's.

Fetch said he wasn't selling his soul to the devil and he seems to have been right about that call and on that basis, I have no reason to doubt his intentions now.

Onwards and upwards, we still have more folk to Fetch.

After drinking in London at the weekend, it's like buying Fetch a pint and then another one to drown his sorrows at the loss of Leigh Halfpenny for RWC2015.

Scooby - I've just read that out to Katie, and it made her smile (and me too). I'm gonna make her a cup of tea and have a cwch in front of some telly, but I'll answer all questions tomorrow. I really appreciate all the supportive comments, and the fact that it's brought about discussion shows (I hope) that lots of folks are very attached to this place.

Ttfn (my boy is on standby for a call up to the squad)

Don't mind donating but i'd rather have something useful like a buff or even something like a pair of socks other than a pin badge and car sticker.
