Oh, it's such a nice one. Make sure you go for breakfast afterwards.

Gritts!
We really liked it and found a nice coffee place across from the park afterwards.

Not an inaugural, but Pontypool parkrun is likely to be a temporary course for each of the next 3 summers due to building work on the rugby ground.

Three years of building work? What are they doing?
I liked my Christmas Day Pontypool parkrun. Nostalgia from years of rocking up to go skiing there... that is painful.

Year one - build the fence, move the scoreboard and plant trees
Year two - refurbish the stand
Year three - refurbish buildings and everything else

Work can only be completed during the summer months when the rugby ground isn't being used by the club. There will be an agreement in place that parkrun and the local running club can still use the ground when there's no building going on.

If I had my way I'd make the XC course go right up to the shell grotto at the top of the hill.

The best part of the Pontypool Gwent League course is the fell-like downhill then sharp right at the bottom, really sorts out the fellrunners from the boys.

There may be an inaugural parkrun happening near you. Best to check with the local parkrun volunteers to see if they want you to know about it or not.

Otherwise there are plenty of already established parkruns to go to in the UK and abroad, see: parkrun.org.uk
