Right, I'm sat down and have WiFi and have fmailed 12barDavid. I'm not ED at Coldhams but am core team. This event has taken a very long time to bring off. The council are extremely ambivalent - why do you think there is still no event within Cambridge city despite successful parkruns happening all around the city boundaries for years? We only have permission for a 12 months trial with the council retaining the option to shut us down at any time. A huge inaugural with a single complaint to the council from a local could well be enough to end it. So please, if you're local and wanting a new regular run, come along from the start. The date will be on the website from the Monday before. If you're touristing though, please think about leaving us a few weeks to bed in and let the locals get over the shock. Milton and Wimpole are both lovely and worth a visit instead. Thank you.

I really hope Coldhams Common works - I’ve run to Milton before from my parents but this is so much closer so I’ll definitely come and visit at some point.

There's going to be a new one in Lincolnshire soon, at Market Rasen. There's some core team involvement from Cleethorpes and I'm expecting a little bit of drift for some of the more distant Cleethorpes runners towards Rasen when it becomes established. I believe that they're using the race course, which means that they'll possibly have rather better infrastructure than we have at Cleethorpes Country Park and should be comfortable with decent numbers once they've taken off. It's just over 20 miles by road from Cleethorpes to Market Rasen, so becomes our closest alternative. Still need to reduce the pressure on Cleethorpes a bit, I'm desperately hunting for another venue in North East Lincolnshire but I can't find anything quite so "all-weather" and accessible. |

patkrunPercy, your intell is a bit wrong I'm afraid - it's not imminent. It's still early days in the planning, core team still being assembled, course being planned etc. If you went to the park you'll notice there is lots of building works, the car parks are getting reworked so it's not going to start until next year earliest and could still even change location.
