Lloyd - Are Mole Valley really struggling to find volunteers for the first event? Surely they would not kick off without a full roster already in place?

Exactly Kev surely as the Pin is "up" 2 weeks in advance they must be ready to go and that was certainly the impression I was given some weeks ago...

In answer to your question, Bexley Kev, Mole Valley's roster is full for the Test Run tomorrow but so far people have only volunteered for the roles where they can still run at the Inaugural Event. I think this is because everyone would really like to run the first event. I think they are waiting in hope that others will come forward first. I did offer to do barcode scanning if I could still run but the Run Director said no. Things will resolve themselves in the next few days. They have a number of volunteers, four people have been trained up as Run Director and I don't think it will be long before others offer to help out as it is a great venue. The only thing I am not happy with is Denbies refusal to let us use the toilets in the vineyard before 9.15am. If lots of people start peeing in bushes near the visitors centre it will make an unpleasant smell . I am going to write to e-mail Denbies and ask them to reconsider this policy.

What about having a designated outdoor eco-toilet area? Or a bucket and an unusual volunteering opportunity?

Sounds like they would be happy to fulfill that role Dvorak, if they can still run. Presumably without the bucket.

Fairly low key start at Haverhill with very few tourists and 123 finishers. Holding the inaugural on the same weekend as the town's 10k, HM & Marathon was perhaps a good way to keep numbers down. Very wet & muddy course entirely on grass (3 laps of one field and 3 laps of a larger field) which I don't think will stand up well to being used every week in winter.

Mole Valley had 106-110 for today's Test Run. I walked round the course afterwards. It is a tough one. It is definately harder than Lloyd & one you need trail shoes for at this time of year. There are two challenging hills & the second one is nasty as you don't notice it until you've gone round a sharp right turn on your way to the farthest end of the course. Still, we had a sausage dog who made it round the course today. So, no wimping out of this one! Once you get up the hills though you will be rewarded with fantastic views across to Box Hill.

There may be an inaugural parkrun happening near you. Best to check with the local parkrun volunteers to see if they want you to know about it or not.

Otherwise there are plenty of already established parkruns to go to in the UK and abroad, see: parkrun.org.uk
