An inaugural that's not an inaugural will be Rogiet parkrun rising from the ashes of Caldicot parkrun. Due to restart on 7th October across the other side of the road and with a new name, and no chance of a PB for anyone that ran at Caldicot as it will now be off road.

Since it is going to be run as a new Rogiet parkrun - doesn't that mean that everyone will get a PB rather than no one?

(OK - I know.......it's actually going to be handled as a renaming and it seems as though the history will get carried forward. But never mind.)

They are just renaming it apparently, so will be event 6 rather than 1. Still going to be the same event number in the database I guess so all previous times would stand.

So it's like Darley -> Markeaton and not like Hatfield Forest -> Castle Park.

Dvorak, my nearest parkrun is 8-9 miles away, but I still run/cycle or get the bus/train there. Unfortunately we just live in a world where the car takes precedence, and people just automatically full back on it. My next door neighbour drives to Tesco every day (about a 5 min walk and probably quicker to walk too) which I find bizzare, and I know he has no health conditions.

Hatfield Forest is a 15-20 minute drive from Castle Park, so might be a bit of a stretch to call it a continuation of the same event (although people's "home" run is being automatically transitioned over and it's obviously the same core team etc.)

Shame about this one, it's a lovely place to run and there were 5 or 6 different routes in use, but there just isn't the parking for 300+ people, particularly in winter, and no public transport options.

Caldicot to Rogiet will be about 100m apart, depending on exactly where they put the start line.

To clarify my position I have to say that I generally agree with your responses (theMould, Dvorak, LadySol): I would also argue that the benefits of attending a parkrun add more value than the cost (environmental or otherwise) of a short drive, and don't mean to put down, let alone lecture, anyone who has to travel this far to a parkrun. The SW London massive is spoiled for choice and we know it.

I do struggle with persuading non-runners and even non-parkrunners that driving somewhere else to run and driving back instead of just starting to run from the front door has it's merits. On this basis you shouldn't drive more than a mile and a half to run a 5k...

Worms firmly squashed back in can.

Back on the current topic - I have run Markeaton and only realised it was a venue switch when I noticed it's still listed on RunBritain as Darley.

Charlie P no it's not like Hatfield Forest -> Castle Park as they are starting this as event 1 and not transferring times so in reality Castle Park IS and inaugural just with the same core team....

There may be an inaugural parkrun happening near you. Best to check with the local parkrun volunteers to see if they want you to know about it or not.

Otherwise there are plenty of already established parkruns to go to in the UK and abroad, see: parkrun.org.uk
