I remember when I was at school having "a varooka" was A Big Deal and you got off PE and everything. It's generally accepted now that gyms and swimming pools and suchlike are awash with verruca viruses and since they're harmless and selflimiting there's no need to stay away if you've got one.

My teenage son has started getting these, first on hands, feet, and knees, but also now a couple of polyp type things around his mouth. He has an appointment in the distant future to see someone about these, but in the meantime it can't be nice for him to have these blemishes, he's not going to get kissed
