Well done Jet and Helegant. Someone suggested the other day that Ernie should do fly ball. I suspect his eagerness to fetch a ball at the beach or in the park would not translate to doing it within rules and surrounded by other dogs. |

If we had flyball classes locally instead of agility I suspect we would have done that first. It looks like such fun for the dog.

Flyball seems to involve all of the dogs barking continuously though - I’m not sure I could stand that!

... and, I heard a woman say that her dog couldn't do it anymore because of some sort of injury relating to having to hit the target to release the ball. That sounded rather like the 'the impact of running damages your knees' argument to me so I wasn't sure how seriously to take it. I agree that the noise is difficult. We had some of that yesterday, and it doesn't matter how often the KC say that dogs should be taught to be quiet and kept quiet, some owners won't or can't stop their dogs from constantly barking. When it gets too bad I put Jet in the car to snooze so his ears get a rest. |

An expensive week for our hounds. After Cookies dental and extractions we hard an emergency vet visit for Phoebe. Out on a walk and she ran into a clump if very long grass to play with another dog. She then appeared to get very excited and over stimulated and bombed off into an area of long grass and reeds. We finally got her back and finished the walk. All the way back she was pawing at her face and rubbing her face on the ground. I thought either seed, dust or scratch to her eye. Got her home and she went hyper after trying to clean her eyes. It looks like an allergic reaction to something in the grass plus a bee sting in her paw. £200 and an expensive piriton later she’s crashed out on the sofa. |
