Stander
Since my wife crashed on the ward last Friday and was rushed into the intensive care unit I have had quite a number of messages of support from you guys in a couple of different threads.

Rather than post all over the show and to keep those up to date who have enquired, I started this thread.

Despite being told yesterday that she may well be keep sedated for up to a week, they have actually started reducing her sedation today.
For the first time in six days I was able to talk to her and occasionally get a weak nod or shake of the head from her.

It's a very long way from full recovery but a start.

The next few hours / days will reveal more as they carry on reducing her sedation still further this afternoon and can hopefully then start to determine what damage may have been done. I'm going back this evening and will update then on any progress.

In the meantime can I thank each and everyone of you who has texted, fmailed, prayed for or messaged your kind words of support.

That sounds like a promising little step in the right direction, Stander.

Having seen my mother survive a couple of respiratory arrests, a long spell of ventilation and deep sedation, and multiple procedures under general anaesthetic earlier this year, and not only survive but come through with no lasting heart, lung, or brain damage, I have a huge amount of faith in what intensive care staff can do.

That's good news Stander. Small hopeful steps as the sedation is reduced but good to hear she is responding to you. Thoughts and prayers are with your wife, you and your family x
