thanks LindsD. I was having exactly this converstation with T2 this morning. He has an offer on a course which is usually 60% overseas students and was at the upper end end of his achievable grades (well upper end of anyones grades). His predicted grades suggested he would reach is but his mocks were less convincing, though knowing how he works he would probably pull it out of the bag at the last minute. So im really hoping this situation is going to be ok for him. but who knows

He's in a pretty strong position, then, I would say. As a university, we are very worried about numbers for Sept. We are not in the top half of the table, though.

Ds1 hasn’t even had offers from 2 unis yet. Hopefully he’ll be fine with his first choice given mocks, predicted grades and interview. TBH, my main worry is life not being even vaguely back to normal by October, though that might be unduly pessimistic!

Yep, blended learning may become more of a thing. I wouldn't be surprised if all on-campus stuff is pushed back to Jan.

My 2 are ok at present, which is a huge relief! Marigold plodding through work set by school, and socialising online with friends. SweetPea was horrified that school sent her work as well, but she's been doing some subject work relevant to her chosen A levels. She's also been taking and editing loads of photos- she was doing photography GCSE and should have been starting her practical exam next week. Using Marigold as her *muse* and the glorious weather, we've lots of wonderful but slightly odd pics! And she's learning bass online with lessons from a friend. They also go out together to walk the dog. They only usually get on when we're on holiday, away from home, so this is brilliant. Having said that, we're only on week 1! |

When I say *they go out together to walk the dog* I mean my girls, not SweetPea and online bass buddy.

GG: I did suggest to ds1 that an obvious solution might be to move uni term dates, though obviously that impacts other years and masters etc. Still, nobody has any idea how long it will be until any kind of normal is possible. In the meantime some unis will go bust since some were already teetering. Interesting to finally see criticism of unis spending shitloads on buildings and not staff or IT infrastructure though, since the buildings are lying empty and the staff and IT are essential!

QP has a conditional offer for the course in Fort William that we had the virtual open day for. All he has to do is pass the course he's doing currently. They are currently improvising what that might look like so hopefully they will ensure everyone gets through the next few months.
