I started giving blood about a year ago (don't judge me; I had my reasons and various failed attempts; I also gave blood when I lived in Scotland though that was 2 decades ago). Anyway, I went from a nice plump score of 32 whatevers for iron down to a slightly under-par 25 or thereabouts in August. I didn't even know till I went in January and the nurse mentioned it and suggested I might think about iron, but I thought it was an aberration because I've never had a problem before. Until yesterday, when I got an SMS telling me my iron was low and I needed supplements. I went to the blood bank to ask about and she checked the record. My score of whatevers is down at 13.5. Below 10, they won't take it all. I was handed a bottle of iron tablets and a dollop of mild concern. Anyway, after 2 hours of googling middle-age and low iron and what not (bear in mind I feel fine), not being able to find any relevant changes to diet, the only medical change being one that has massively reduced monthly bleeding, worrying that the low iron was a sign of some grave illness I realised what I've been doing differently this past year. Yup. Giving blood. Doh! |

Getting dressed in a bit of a hurry after my swim last night, and mindful of the wet floor, I put my shoes on as soon as my socks were on. Which would have been fine if I'd also put my trousers on. |

At 3 I left Tesco worrying I'd be late to pick up from school. Luckily, before I turned up red and sweating, I remembered he is in a club until 4.15 today.

I ran an out and back 10k on Sunday. As I ran up to the turnround point I noticed a club mate quite a long way ahead of me. I couldn't work out why she was far in front of me as we run about the same speed. I sped up a bit to try and catch up to her but she was too far ahead to catch. At about 8 1/2 km it dawned on me that she had started ahead of me and therefore she would finish ahead of me... (Chip times were about 30 seconds apart).

VP is going to a nearby town to "spend" his foodbank fund in a particular supermarket there. He told me he was off to catch the bus. "Have you enough bags?" I said. "And how are you going to bring over £90-worth of shopping home on the bus?" He was very patient with me. |

I've just gone round the house emptying all the bins, but remembered what day of the week it was just before I hauled the wheelie bins and recycling bag out to the front of the house.

I woke up in the middle of the night, having been asleep for what felt like hours and hours. I looked at the digital clock and it said 23:xx. I thought "oh, the clock has broken, it is showing random numbers instead of a time" |

Mrs Jigs (Luverlylegs)
I unplugged the digital bedside clock whilst cleaning, plugged it back in when I finished, later when I looked at it I wondered why it didn't make sense, thought I had broken it, then realised it was upside down.

That did make me laugh Mrs Jigs, just the kind of thing I would do! (well it would be if I was better at actually doing housework rather than putting it off)
